Kits question...

Does anyone know if there is a patch being in the works to add the kits of BG2 to BG/TOTSC?
I'd love to start over from scratch with BG and take a character all the way through the games. I know you can do that now as either of the basic classes but dammit I want to play as a Monk
cheers

I would like the same thing. I'm pretty sure such a patch doesn't exist...
Besides, in the case of monks I'm thinking maybe that's for the best. Monks get pretty powerful from lvl 13 on. Before that (starting with lvl 7 in SoA) I found the monk to be a bit weak. Imagine what a monk would be like on lvl 1: no stunning blow, no quivering palm, hardly any resistance to magic, poison etc., not be able to wear armor...

Playing a monk at level 1 is like playing a lvl 1 mage who has run out of spells, it sucks big style.

Well, a regular level 1 mage doesn't run out of spells... he runs out of spell
And yes... monks suck big time at low levels... they even suck in the begginnig/middle of BG2... no armor, no shield, no weapons, no spells... sucky...

It is unfortunate but it is still a great game.

Hmm, if there never is a patch it would be nice to have had the option of selecting a kit when you import your character from BG to SOA, this of course would mean yet another patch for SOA. And not only selecting a kit but maybe being able to re-select some proficencies(sp?) as well.
I'm playing a ranger in BG right now and I would like the option of choosing the Archer kit when I import him over and to add more points to short/long bow instead of the 2 max that I'm stuck with in BG.
Also I hadn't played BG since SOA came out and the power level or lack thereof my character displays is taking alot of getting used too, I mean I was getting real partial to dropping 40-70 bombs on my adversaries.

You do get to choose a kit and redo the proficiencies. So your ranger can stay as a ranger, or be an Archer, Stalker or Beastmaster. The proficiency are reset, because of the weapon styles available in BG2, so you can put them anywhere you want.

But not with Monks, Sorcerers, Barbarians because these are not kits, they are classes.

God I feel dumb...y'know I really need to double check what I write down.
