High Hedge heist

On High Hedge screen there's a thief who talks about a "big-time mage" who has "magical items scattered all over" but they are guarded by "flesh monsters". "There must be a way to outwit the witless..."
OK, what does that mean? I've slayed the flesh golems and Thalantyr but can't loot the stuff Thalantyr has for sale, only nickel and dime is to gain here. Is there a way to get some goood stuff for free from High Hedge? And what is that round thing with symbols written all over it, with a crystal in the middle and light flashing around it? Does anyone know?

I killed the mage once, but found no hoard or anything, if that was what you were looking for.
I don't think it is good to slay this mage, because he is involved in a quest and has plenty of very nice item for sale, and IIRC he buys almost anything from you.

Indeed the geezer does have a lot of interesting items like the Robe of Archimagi a must, also loads of spells, potions and other items, like the claw of Kazgaroth which is fantastic
There are certain dialogue cues that you have to take with him, the best thing to do is send in one party member and run through them, othewise the Flesh Golems will attack your party. I think it is something like "We have heard there is a great mage in this area"..... "We are looking to buy or even sell magical items"

Hopefully he can go back to a saved game since he killed the mage.
Was there not a slim chance the spell would not work and the chicken would explode.

There was a large change that the chicken would explode

Damn large chance of chicken exploding. It was only on my fourth trip through that I found the chicken could actually become human again.

50/50 chance, or so I've heard.

I guess whether or not chicken explodes is pretty much up to intelligence and/or wisdom rating.
Back to the original guestion; I've managed to trade with Thalantyr, I've managed to turn his apprentice back to human, I've managed to kill 'em all (always wanted to say that).
Yet, I still have a hunch that there's something more might about High Hedge, all dialog's and the looks of the place give hints about it. But perhaps that's only my imagination running wild. And it seems I'm talking to my self again, and the worst part is that I'm doing it on a public forum...
I'm getting old.

Well I've had the chiken explode in one game, then reload and it exploded and then reload and the "apprentice" survived - so I's say there must be a random factor in there also.
Regarding there to be more to High Hedge? - Well I've never found or heard of anything - so if you find "more" - post it here, so we all have a (one more
) reason for replaying.

Just a guess, but I think it may be talking about the Flesh Golems in the cave near the lighthouse. Afterall, there's the constitution book, and some other stuff.
Oh and BTW, this is my first post!
