I was looking through the equipment list for BG when I noticed that it says there are 2 locations for the ring of Wizadry. This being news to me I set off in search of them. However no matter how hard I look I cannot find the one which is "Found in a tree along the bottom of map" at the Friendly arm Inn. It does say the co-ordinates are x=2555, y=3760 but I can't figure out how to bring up the map co-ordinates. I've looked in the manual and no help there so how do I do it??? help please.

Press 'L' on the keyboard
If you can't find it, the you must have one of the patches which disallowed the second ring of wizardry.

I believe if you have the expansion ToSC installed it will be there, even with the patches. If it's an American edition it will be there
without an patches installed. If it's an later edition from ? England, Denmark ,ect ,ect...I don't believe it will be there either way (with or without a patch) the only part I really don't know about is ...will it be in a later edition from ? England, Denmark ,ect ,ect if the expansion ToSC is installed.
(IIRC...Gruntboy (from England) didn't have one in his English edition....but Minerva (from England) did.)

I just want to mention that the ring is VERY hard to find...I thought it was not there in my install but I just kept looking and it was there! The highlighted area that the mouse passes over is very very small, the size of a ring dropped on the ground. As I recall it was not IN the tree but next to it on the ground (could be wrong). anyway I looked, gave up, tried again later, just kept moving the mouse over the area, found it. I have heard that you have to have one character selected not the whole party.
Good Luck!

You do RC Weasel!
I tried and tried to find this ring. UK BG1 and UK patch and UK ToSC in various combos (no patch no ToSC, patch and ToSC, patch and not ToSC...)
I looked everywhere, with one character. In and around every freakin' tree. Never found it. I read in one guide that the ring was removed from the UK version. I also read another guide saying you kill one of the Assasins at the start to get a +1 dagger - not in my version.

scroll down to the bottom of the freindly leg inn, and go right until you find a tree that looks like the same of as a christmas tree (evergreen?). its under that, on a rock, i think. im not 100% sure. you might be able to see it, i cant remember.
and the dagger +1 is at the start, when you get the crossbow quarrels for the guy. if you have 18 CHR, he gives you a +1 dagger and says a story

The ring is under the first pine tree to the right of the path leading into the Friendly Arm. There is a patch of dirt under the tree. In this patch of dirt is a small dark spot. The ring is in there.

The ring is always present in the fully patched American configuration featuring both Baldur's Gate and Tales Of The Sword Coast.

Ok I did this to death when I first heard of the second RoW and discovered something. Some versions of BG(without TotSC) don't have a RoW in the FAI area. This same version of BG doesn't allow you to PP Drizzt for his oh-so-nice scimitar or anything else for that matter. I just happen to have this version. Yea, it sucks, but I managed without it.

If it's not there you could always use GateKeeper in order to get it. It would probably feel a bit cheesy but so does having such a superb ring already from start as well, so...

Why do u want a second ring? I know they are useful but I always found other rings almost if not equally as useful for a mage. I have an english version (the 6 cd set) and it has always been there in mine.

A RoP +2 comboed with a RoW would be excellent, and far better that two Row.
