cheating repercussions

Are there any penalties incurred upon your game when entering cheats?

Also, I seem to remember reading somewhere that if you enter cheats there is a chance the entire game can be irreparably damaged. But that may have been from incorporating mods instead.

I recall using both Kotor Tool and the console cheats without any negative repercussions. But that's just me.

There is no guarantee that a game editor will do what you want, or even leave your saved game playable. Always, always, do a backup of that saved game before editing.

Ok, but regardless it will not mess up the ENTIRE game correct? Aka, lose everything and need to reinstall?

As long as you have backed up your saves, a reinstall won't hurt much, would it?

You shouldn't have to reinstall, but if the changed saved game fails to load properly, you want a backup handy--don't you?

Aside having a 'Cheat Enabled' notice in front of the save game's picture, I have yet to encounter serious issues as a result of using them. I probably suspect that some mods will cause issues with the game rather than inputting cheat codes.

Ehh, forget it.

I Tried adding a few items and frankly, it is really boring and takes the fun out of the game. It makes all those great items not so amazing anymore. I typically never cheat for this exact reason but I was trying to get that high grade armor from Fassa at the docks of Nar Shaddaa as I explained in my other post, and doing that is extremely tedious and annoying so I got impatient.

The thing is, I legitimately found more or less all of the best items you can find in the game before the end of the last one I played. So cheating just seems pointless. And let me also say, that the Malak Armor was really disappointing. I thought it was actually going to look like what Malak wore in KotOR I. Ohh NOOOO Mr. KOOL-AID! After you put it on, you read the "small-print" at the bottom saying it is rumored to have been used by Malak BEFORE the war... Lame. It just looks like Jal Shey Armor only a little reddish.

All helmets are based on the same 4 or so designs. That was the dealbreaker for me after cheating. Neverwinter Nights had more variation.

The only time I ever had a problem with cheating was when I used the SGE to change my PCs appearance to that of a NPC. That causes the game to crash if the PC has to dance for the Hutt (I presume it's something to do with the bikini costume). But there were no other repercussions; I could reload the game just fine.

Learn to play without cheats or you'll just ruin your fun

Well to be honest I used some cheats in my game and, I don't know if anybody else had this problem happen to them, but every time I gain light side points, my party members go in the opposite direction. I.E. I could be completely full on the light side scale of things where as my party members, droids and all, will be (almost) full/filled on the opposite side of the scale, aka me=light, party=dark. I just have one question about that, WHY!?!? Also it works in the opposite sense, ie me=dark, party=light, except of course Kreia.
