About max skill levels

Ok I still have a question about this, but now I can be more specific:

I got Rhulana the swords skill and went to level it up. At leve 5 she is maxxed out with a skill of 13 in sabres, but swords maxxes out at at skill of 8. So obviously she cannot be as good with a sword as she can with a sabre. To test another, I tried adding points into axe/mace. It maxxes out at skill 11, so she's almost as good with axe/mace as with sabre, but not quite. My original question (hopefully now explained a bit better) is how do I know what characters can be good with what weapons? I would never have bought her the sword skill if I had known she would be that lame with a sword....

Is there some way to tell, or perhaps a chart on some webpage somewhere? I know now that I should have saved first, but I didn't, so I'd rather not make that mistake again :/

Any help would be appreciated!

Upon further review, it looks like each archetype (class) has a base skill level for each talent. You can see the base level by creating a new character and then going into expert mode and removing as many points as possible. Whatever points you're left with is the base amount. Then the maximum weapon skill for the character is (base amount + character level + 3). Apparently amazons have a much higher base skill for sabers than swords.

I hunted around, but if anybody has summarized this information anywhere, I didn't find it.

Ahhh that's too bad, it would be really nice to have a chart with that info in it wouldn't it! I'll keep in mind about creating new characters and maybe if I'm bored I'll compile it myself at some point.
Thank you for your help SWC. :)

Hey SWC, ok so I just wanted to add a little information to this subject as I fear your max skill calculations are either incorrect or perhaps not a constant? Here's why:

I'm looking at Forgrimm now. If you start a Dwarf Mercenary and reduce all of their weapons stats as low as possible as you suggested to see the bonuses, his skill with 1 hand axe/mace is 6, and with 2 hand axe/mace is only 2.
According to your formula, at level 4 his maximum skill with 1 hand axe/mace should be 13 (which it is), but his maximum skill level with 2 hand axe/mace should only be 9. However, his 2 hand axe/mace skill at level 4 maxxes out at skill level 12... only one point below the 1 handers. Soooo...now I have to wonder what, if any, the formula is.

I know I am obsessing over numbers, but I'd really like to know what skills to invest points in, especially in my fighters! I'm going to go ahead and keep Forgrimm's 2 hand axe/mace maxxed out because 1 point less maximum is very little, and I felt like making him a 2 hand fighter. I know some people out there will say just do whatever is fun to you, but I can't help but be a bit of a number cruncher :)

Anyway I just thought I'd pass that information along! If you (or anyone) figure out some definite formula, please pass it along! :)
