Bug causing disappearance of items and accidental item duplicating.

Hello there!

I have no clue if I'm posting this in the right forum section or whatever since this is the first time I'm posting anything at all in these forums. If this is the wrong section or whatever it might be called here, I ask any admin who might read this, to move my thread to the proper place.

Having that said, I have a group consisting of my male Wild Mage, Korgan, Jan and Viconia. I had been romancing Viconia and it was such a long time since I played BG2 that I had forgotten about bodhi's little abduction scheme when you come to battle her for the last time. Now, the problem is this: Bodhi stole Viconia from me, Viconia dropped her stuff on the ground, including the Bag of Holding. Stupid as I am, I saved the game, figuring "why would there be a problem?" or rather, not figuring anything at all, "why should I", right? Well, when I picked up the stuff, it seems that everything that was IN the Bag of Holding, was not in it anymore, it had been emptied. Now, when you pick up something from the ground there is something you could describe as the "ground inventory", the usual 'slots' where you see what's on the ground when you pick up loot etc. My theory is that everything that was in my Bag of Holding didn't 'fit' into these slots, there were too few slots, so approximately the 'top third' of all the stuff that was in the bag, got duplicated, or more accurately said, tripled and the rest was lost. All of the sudden I had 3 Maevar's strongbox Key, 3 Silver Swords, 3 Clubs of the whatever, and so on. Since all the stuff that was 'on top' in the bag was stuff that had been in the bag for a long time (like the piece of red cloth^^), all my good stuff that was in the bottom is just gone.

Have anyone else encountered this same bug? How should I solve it? I know there are loads of cheats but I have never used any of them before and I would love it if anyone would give me instructions on what to do, if you know that it works. If no one seems to 'know' for certain, any suggestions would be appreciated. Viconia is level 30 so I can't just kick her out of the party :S

Well, BG2 is a REALY REALLY BUGGED game, if you dont have the right patches installed. You shall always install all patches and bg2 fixpack or baldurdarsh for example (These are NO cheats, just patches fixing a lot of problems, the patches are including cheats sometimes, but you dont need to install them) What ever, do it, if you would ever start a NEW game.

For now: You shall you the cheat CLUAConsole. For that you must open the Baldur.INI data. Under [program options] type: Debug Mode=1 It shall look like this:

[Program options]
Debug Mode=1
...
...

When you are IN the game use Ctrl+Space: A chat window will open. There you can type a code and create all the items that you have lost. You must know what items you had, to find out the right code for each item. First type:
CLUAConsole:CreateItem("xxxxxx")
As xxxxxxx you must type the right code and ENTER!!! Bam there is you item. Find out the right codes.

Or you can just use the Shadowkeeper program found at Sorcerer's Place - Dragon Age, Neverwinter Nights 2, Storm of Zehir, Dungeons & Dragons News, Walkthroughs, Guides, Screenshots

It has a list of items you can scroll through and add those you've missed.

Alright, thanks alot guys, I will check both of these options out I think.

It sucks to play a character to lvl 30 and THEN, your game ****s up :)

Thx!

1 more thing, where do I find these codes btw?

I remmeber my games randomly crashing or getting stuck and screwing up all the time before I started installing the official patch and G3 fix pack. Now I play and have anywhere from 5-10 mods and the game is smoother. NPC Mods still screw up dialog wise once in a whiel but most have self correction or you can fix them using control + (whatever).

The Shadowkeeper editor doesnt require codes, but the other option does and those you should be able to find on GameBanshee's BG2 item database. If not there is a list on gamefaqs.

Hmm, I followed the link concerning the Shadowkeeper program but all I get are programs talking about removing xp caps, casting 100 imba spells at once or automatically healing yourself etc. Not anything concerning item creation. Of course I don't know where to look since people say they have used this :( Does anyone have a specifik link to follow to the actual download and please tell me specifically what to dl since there seem to be a zillion shadowkeeper programs made by different people. (I'm new at this...^^)

Thx!

Thanks everyone! I followed the link provided by Spjuv3rn in the reply post above (for anyone who might need the same help) and I found it directly. My sweet Viconia shows no weakness anymore :)
