Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition

It's really cool, has a neat "dark world" type system, and pokes fun at a number of RPG conventions. You can find it at most online retailers for under $10. But you do have to order it and apparently the Venezuelan mail system is a problem. You've played all the popular games that one would find in stores already :-/

You could try the might and magic series, especially part 3-7 are great.

Realms of arcania : shadows over Riva is also a nice game to play if you liked star trail.

I second the Might and Magic recommendation, it's one of my favourite series.

You could also have a look at another vintage game: The Magic Candle. I played it this year after reading a recommendation made by Fable and was really impressed. There are four titles in the series.

You could try the Gothic series and Risen, and also the Vampire the Masquerade series. The first one, Redemption, is story driven and linear. As for the second one, Bloodlines, I have not played it, but I have heard only praises about it.

As for A Farewell to Dragons, I read that it's more like Baldur's Gate than like Fallout.

Edit: I forgot Drakensang, especially if you like the Realms of Arkania games, since it is set in the same world.

By the time you have played all these games, you should have received Dragon Age. :D

Definitely give Vampire - The Masquerade: Bloodlines a go, it's an excellent game. Be sure to download the unofficial patch too, since without it the game is incredibly buggy.

Played it for about an hour, on a friend's copy. It's not anything like BG, but a poor man's Dungeon Siege.

That's disappointing, I hoped it would be a great game.

If you still want some, I can add these:

Arcanum
Deus Ex
Jade Empire
System Shock I & II

Me, too. But it's poorly balanced, the animated graphics are truly terrible, the "interactions" are minor and generic. Of course, things could improve dramatically later, but let me illustrate it this way: I was told I needed to rush out of the first area, because it was exceptionally dangerous, and we were needed quickly in a town. Instead, my companion and I started killing wild boars, wolves, and thugs. It was remarkably easy, and they made level 7 quickly. And the monsters kept respawning, too. And if you killed one? The others right around it would ignore you until you attacked one of them, directly.

I recommend that you give Arcanum of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. It's an old, but fun game. It took me a while to sit right down and play it, but it was well worth it. There are so many choices in regards to dialog and ways of completing missions, not to mention reactions to your characters based on race and stats, that I think it definitely beats the BG series in terms of "flexibility" and maybe even rivals the first two Fallout games.

are Arcanum of Steamworks and Magick Obscura sequels to each other or do they have independent stories and you do not requiere one to play the other? those names picked my curiosity :D

also does anybody has expirience with the new stalker?

I also second the suggestion of Deus Ex. It's an FPS/RPG, but it has a fantastic story and a great setting.

Arcanum is a very good choice! I can't believe I forgot to recommend it. I really liked that game.

As for Deus Ex, here is my advice: don't try to kill everybody since killing ennemies does not give you any XP. Personally, I only started to love the game when I stopped trying to kill everything.

That said, you can do what you want with my advice, since there is not only one way to play or to enjoy a game. ;)

I don't know where you are, but I find it listing at Amazom.com for under $10 US.
