Slow Looting

So I'm at level 31, and all the way through the game the looting seems to get slower and slower. It can take up tp 2-3 sec sometimes. It's really annoying since I'm an archer and I pick up my arrows all the time. Otherwise the game is fine with no lag.
I remember that in the start the looting was considerably faster.
What causes this problem?

In my experience that sort of slow down has always been due to having too much stuff in my inventory. Not necessarily the total number of objects, 2000 iron arrows seems to have the same effect as one iron arrow for example, whereas having one of every different type of arrow does have an impact if you see what I mean. Try dumping all your gear into a safe container, going to another cell and see if having an empty inventory makes a difference.
I've been playing with OOO installed, which means I was keeping every gem and nugget, and that definitely was having an impact.

I can concur with Galraen. This usually happens when I am on an ingredient looting spree with tonnes of feather items and spells to augment my carrying capacity. Once the item page gets suitably cluttered, slowdowns are inevitable. But before this, I had chalked it down to a less than stellar processor. Glad to see that it has more to do with the game's programming instead.

Find yourself a good home or house mod, and dump stuff in a variety of receptacles. This is especially true if you scarf up alchemy ingredients. You'll speed up in no time.

So it's not just to dump my stuff, but I have to have it in different containers? I may have misunderstood but is this what you mean? I guess I also have a bunch of gems and stuff like that on me and laying around. Please give me an answer that tells me what I must do. Fables answer sounded good, but what exactly do you mean? Didn't quite understand exactly what you meant.
I'm playing the full FCOM Convegance (OOO, Frans, MMM, Warcry and so on...) if that has anything to du with anything.

Oh, you can just drop it all, but using separate containers makes it easier to access. That's all.

Ok, getting rid of items = faster loot time. Got it

Also, moving them into a variety of containers means you're not accessing the whole mess at one time, as you would if you moved into a room where they were all simply on the floor together.

I'm not sure if this problem is unique to me, but I have noticed on occasion that putting all my possessions into a single container can lead to similar lag issues when trying to access said container. This is made worse by the fact that containers don't have a maximum capacity and things can get pretty cluttered in there.

Exactly. I use a lot of containers in the house mod I've got because I'm too lazy to want to scroll through tons of inventory.

But it's a strong side benefit not having to worry about slowdown from too many items in one place, as well.
