I just got the icewind dale collection. But after installing and updating I've had had a visual issue, the background SHOULD be clear around quoting texts above NPCs heads, items laying on the ground, and some numbers on the HUD; but it is all black in the back ground of items and texts(becoming a major blocking view of eveything on the screen) The problem happens on both games, 1 & 2.
I had IWD2 a while ago (disk was scratched and ruined) and never had this problem before.
Anyone know a way to fix this problem?
all my video card drivers are up to date

I had a similar problem with my baldurs gate collection, i managed to fix it after putting everything in highst mode on the configuration outside of the game, afterwards all the black things around item banished and the fog I could also listen to the small talk fully of the npcs
I hope you can fix it like that

Have you seen my brain around here? No? well in case you see it its brainy and squishy looking. If you see it let me know
I have had the same problem after I ran these games on my new computer. It's a video card issue I have a Geforce 8800 I believe. The solution is to run the game in 16 bit color mode and fiddle around with the translucent shadows, sprite mirror and other settings and for me to go to the nvidia control panel and turn off some of the advanced videocard settings for this application (IWD) such as dual core usage and hardware acceleration. Good luck The games are worth it!

Apparently there is some known issues with newer nVidia cards and Infinity engine games (Baldur's Gate, IWD).
i tried to do this one but the installer cannot locate a dialog.tlk file, dont know how to get it to work.
For IWD1 i enabled the 3d accelerating in the config and it removed the black, doesn't seem to run as smooth but works none the less.
For IWD2 i changed the coloring from 32bit to 16bit, gets rid of the black but I'd like a better solution(if you got one that might work with 32bit id love to try) because it doesn't look as good.
I'm getting a new video card in the near future (prolly an Nvidia GTX2xx) does blackisles game engine have a problem with those video cards like it does with the 8 series cards?
