OK, I've got 4 sections of the bridge which appear to span the chasm, but when my one free PC tries to walk across - he can't. Getting frustrated - what's the secret here????

You need to make the bridge part solid before you can cross, by finding the correct combination. It sounds like you have just got the "ghost" bridge parts to appear but have not found the right combination to get any of them to become solid enough to step on. Also, don't try to do the whole bridge at once, do it in stages. For example, make the first two parts solid, move your character onto the second one. Save game, then find the combination that makes the second and third parts solid, move character forward and save. Then find the combination that makes the third and last part solid. Once your character is fully across, the full bridge will appear that will enable your whole party to cross.

You need two "see through" tiles to overlap in order to make a solid tile. Your character can only step on the solid tiles in order to get across. Usually you'll only have two solid tiles at a time.

Now that I think of it, having a puzzle this difficult in a mainstream game is most unusual :)

Ehh.... difficult? If paying attention to the NPCs chatter - you're told how to solve it, except directly which slots to stand on.

Well, at least it wasn't a traditional "Tower of Hanoi" puzzle which seems to find its way into Bioware games.

There's a gravestone in Haven that says "T.O. Hanoi: Unloved, Unmissed" or something to that effect. :D

The bridge puzzle of the Gauntlet took me a while to figure out, but it's really just a question of paying attention to what the different panels do.

It's interesting, though kind of expected, as to how they let a solo character do the puzzle though. Though I guess I wouldn't have been surprised if they made me go back to camp in order to get the rest of the party - but it's a good thing that wasn't the case.

Hmmm... Now might be a very good time to state that the solution for the Gauntlet Bridge is Different for the PS3 & X-Box. The Consoles get the fact that the Bridges, once Solidified, STAY solid.

On the PC: This doesn't happen. The bridge becomes permanently solid only when the PC crosses to the far side. Furthermore, the Solidification routes seem to be different as well between the Consoles and the PC. I found 2 solutions, and one of them didn't work. the other one did.

And the differences between the versions has been confirmed by a Bioware Developer. At least up to the current patch.Whether this gets changed or not, only time will tell.

I was thoroughly befuddled by this one; puzzles are not my forte. So, I went to this site and voila! Bear in mind you have to switch left and right.
