Should I make a new char for the stats?

Hi,
I'm new to this forum and I wonder about stats. I'm a healer with most points spent in willpower and such. Lately I've been sneaking up on NPC's which is quite fun but I get easily detected. Is it worth it to make an alt specialized in agility or should I just level up sneaking on this char?

Having sneak as a non-major skill is the best thing to do, otherwise you level up far too quickly. Spend the time to improve your sneak skill, but try to juggle it so that you get just enough agility related skill increases to give you 5 increas in agility at each level up.
The easiest ways to improve sneak is to find a legionaire riding his patrol and sneak long behind him or her.
The road that runs from Wawnet Inn, clockwise round the Imperial City, past the Vilverin Elven is one good road for doing this. The road that runs from Skingrad to Kvatch is another one, although the legionaires are less frequent; you can gather a lot of ingredients along this road at the same time.

As galraen said, you don't need a new char, unless you want to; just spend time following guards in sneak mode. However, I disagree with him about keepiing Sneak as a minor skill, because it takes forever to level it up to anything useful if you do. Under 30 it is pretty useless, and even 40 isn't a lot better. You don't really feel the benefit of Sneak until about 50. Having an item of Chameleon helps a lot, though.

Oh - and it will help your sneaking if you do it barefoot or in soft shoes. It's not a good idea to do it in heavy armour, either, when you are practicing it following horses or the guards on the Waterfront (my favourite place, cos it's close to my shack

)

Not my experience at all, but I do prefer bows, and getting to 25 I find takes very little time, in fact if anything it's too quick.If it's a major skill you're third level before you know it and all your other attributes and skills are lagging far behind.
I really can't think of a worse skill to have as a major, unless it's mercantile.

Yeah, I agree about Mercantile. Athletics, Alchemy and Speechcraft are others I'd never put in Major.
I prefer Stealth and/or Magic custom classes. I don't find my other attributes lag behind Agility. It depends on where you spend your points, really, don't you think? But I use a blade rather more than a bow (to build up strength for carrying stuff), so that will make quite a difference.

I do tend to sneak all the time, which is why I have no problem with athletics as a major. For strength I tend to buy 5 levels of Armourer and then don some heavy stuff and let mudcrabs and fish do the rest!

Ok, thanks for your answers, I'll try sneaking up on patrols to improve my sneak skill and see how that works out

Erm... doesn't armourer effect Endurance, not Strength? You only get Strength from Blade, Blunt and Hand to Hand, iirc.
You are probably right about Athletics! I sneak most of the time I'm not in a city, but I've never put Athletics as a Major. It IS very slow to build up as a minor in those conditions, that's for sure!

So you took Healer as class
Specialization: Magic
Attributes: Personality, Willpower
Skills: Alchemy
Alteration
Destruction
Illusion
Mercantile
Restoration
Speechcraft
Since you are probably using magic as main weapon, you might want to chose your fights and prepare for it. Sneaking sound like a good idea as it allows you to see what are you up against and buys you time to chose spells. Unless you are detected, of course Muhahaha!
you want the Invisibility and the paralize spell from Darkbroderhood. And Making all the Mages guild quests to allow for the altar of enchantment so you can add your knowladge to items. ( alternatively get the mage tower add On)
Using a shield could help you out on tight situation and help on growing your Endurance.
Also, this is one of my favorite, find a demoralize spell and enchant it on a weapon (can be a dagger) with demoralize up to level 25 for 2 - 3 sec.
this is not supposed to harm but to make enemies flee for long enuff to cast Hell on them

You're right silly me, I've got so used to Morrowindising the relationships I forgot the vanilla setup.

Ah... we should have one of those 'light bulb over the head' smilies.
I haven't played Morrowind for an age, and I only play Oblivion with Knights of the Nine + Downloadable content, plus Shivering Isles, so it never occurred to me that you might have Morrowind elements.
And in any case, it makes much more sense to have Armourer as a Strength skill than an Endurance skill. And Hand to Hand is more an Endurance skill, imo, than a Strength skill. But, hey-ho...
