Need Some Simple, Straight Forward Advise on the Quest Order

Please do not spoil me in the slightest sense.
I am playing BG1/ToSC (tutu) for the first time and am enjoying it immensely. Far more than I ever expected to.
In terms of the main quest, I just cleared the Bandit Camp and have been tasked with going to Cloakwood. My PC is a cleric/ranger multi. I am running a 4-man party with Ajantis, Amoen and Kivan.
Since it is my first play, I am trying to get through the game dying as little as possible, so I am *extremely* careful with each map.
I have no idea which content is ToSC as I am avoiding all walkthroughs or spoilers, but I suspect Dulgar's Tower is. I've cleared the tower exterior (all levels) and the aspect of the tower that ascends. I've also cleared/looted the tower basement and the first dungeon level. I am now about 75% through the 2nd dungeon level, featuring the Greater Doppelgangers.
I've reached a room with bridges over a chasm of lava and I've died twice with what lies within. I've come to the decision that I've bitten off more than my party can chew as we are averaging LVL 6 at this point. I have died twice trying to clear that room and want to stop until my characters a better prepared.
Again, I am trying to get through the game as legitmately as possible. Now that I know what is in the room, I can better prepare for it and clear it but this dungeon's difficulty is advancing quickly and I know I am in for heavy deaths/reloads if I proceed. So I want to stop and come back to it later when we are stronger.
Is it okay to just leave it and come back to finish it later when my party is stronger? I am concerned primarily about missing content. Is there any negative consequence to doing so?
Thanks in advance
PS. I have to say that Dulgar's Tower has been one of the most superb Inifinity engine quests I have experienced. Super props to the designers. It has been a thrill and excellent challenge!!!
