Hello everyone,

After playing BG2 for about 7 years now I surely want to dig into the content a little deaper.

My question is very simple wich race is ment to be the pc's race. Remember i always play good party's

I first thought it had to be Dwarf because you don't have any good dwarfs in the game but what is your opinion on this?

I'm confused. If you've played BG2 for 7 years, surely you realize that the developers played no favorites among races--that whatever the PC selects will make little difference other than in combat? And presumably after 7 years, you'd want to find some combination of race and profession that deliberately goes against the grain to make things more interesting. Right?

I understand what you are saying but I mean something different. I would like to know what people think is the best race to play with

The answer is "Whatever race you prefer".

I always play Human Kensai-Mage-thief as it is a bit hard for me to believe that a Dorf, Halfer, Elven, Gnomish or whatever non-human options you have, child would suspend their disbelief and continue to believe Gorion was their father until the events of BG I.

You obviously like Dwarves, play Dwarf then...

Halfling, of course.

There simply isn't a "best" race.

If you want to know what my "favourite" race is, then it's the Half-Elf. I just like the idea of a character who possesses both the curiosity and passion of Humans and the more artistic and magical nature of the Elves.

If we want to dig deeper, a pure Ranger is my favourite class. Yes, I like to role-play in BGII. Surprise, surprise.

Best race for the PC is human because:

1. that's what we are

2. we can be anything, multi anything, dual-class, and ascend to any level

3. just like in real life, being human allows you to order around those who are different from you and treat them like crap, according to your whim or personal agenda. I don't advocate prejudice but a few thousand years of human history has shown me that we tend to kill each other for being different, so heck...it's a natural role-playing fit for all those dwarves, haflings, barbarians to takes orders from or get pwn'ed by a human playing as a human.

(just in case you missed it, point [3] was stank full of sarcasm)
