Dwarven Thrower+3 question on racial item restrictions

Hi all, I've recently developed a bit of a thing for making illegal character builds and have a quick question about the returning dwarven throwing hammer.
I'm currently trying to make a dwarven cleric/ranger in BGTutu (via Shadowkeeper with a half-elf ranger/cleric for reference purposes and a dwarf fighter/cleric as a base), using the archer kit with grandmastery in warhammers to use the Dwarven Thrower. So quite a few options to choose from in the possible problem category, but if I can get it working he should kick major butt.
Trouble is, when I change the base F/C to a R/C, add in the racial enemy (golems)/extra proficiencies/extra spells etc. it's all good, except that all of sudden Dwarfy McHammertoss (better name pending) is unable to use the dwarven thrower unless I give him Use Any Item (for either archer/cleric, single-class archer, or vanilla class cleric/ranger). Do so and he can equip it, but the game crashes soon after, especially if you change armor. I've previously given UAI to an elf archer so he could wear elven chain, and edited a gnome illusionist into a wild mage, but this is quite a bit more complex than either of those.
So my question is this: does anyone know how the item restrictions for the dwarven thrower actually work (i.e. is it class- as well as race-specific) and how I can overcome them for my golem-slayer, and/or has anyone tried something like this before and is it actually doable?
I recall reading how some people have made kensai/mage/thieves so I assume adding kits to multi-class characters should be doable, but again this goes a bit beyond that.
