Hey Everyone,

I'm playing BG2 for a long time now and was thinking if it is possible to make your own weapons and put them into the game

If you're asking about whether it's possible to do, then yes, it is. Try looking around modding forums for instructions or play around with Near Infinity.

Yes. I did this a while back, and I think I used DLTCEP. I had alot of fun with this, and found that changing simple things was easy.

However, once you get into it, you find that you don't know where to stop, at least I did. Once you start to get a little more adventurous, it begins to get much harder. I used to use existing weapons as a base, and then change to factors I was familiar with accordingly.

For example, say I want an axe that stuns on hit, I'd start with Stiletto of Demarchess because changing everything from 'axe' to 'dagger' is easier than trying to add a stun capability.

Like Crenshinibon said, there's alot of information out there. I found it all slightly baffling, and would suggest first downloading DLTCEP and just messing around with it. I found a couple of FAQ's on modding with the DLTCEP engine, but to be frank, the time I spent looking for and reading them, I could have used more effectively just messing around with the program.

Good luck creating Jouke's Sword of Destruction +3, the hard bit's the descriptions; forged by Jouke himself in the time of the darkening... they always just sound silly :)

If you are doing item editing/creating you should use IEEP. Its easier to learn for newbies, Near Infinity is for those who are very familiar with modding. I never really used DLTCEP much but its okay.

Keep trying mate! I've no experience with IEEP, like I said I've only used DLTCEP, and I'm AWFUL with things like this, but managed to make any weapon I wanted, got it glowing different colours, had a short sword look like a katana, all kinds of things. Had swords that used only the backhand slash animation. Try DLTCEP, load the sword up that's closest to what you want to create, and just modify it.

I might, IEEP will not even start :-(

Edit, anyone tried Cromwell's Smithy? Sounds simple, simple is good IMO.

Haha that is a coincidence, I just tried IEEP today and it wouldn't start. Seems like a "need to download .dll files with program" kinda thing but I just don't feel like searchin the internet for what the problem is. Read the help file, it started talking about a biff stripper or something and I was like yea ok, close. lol.

Certainly not easier to open than NearInfinity :D

Probably need the VB6 package which has the necessary .DLLs for IEEP.
