Are waffles a good thing?

If you eat too many you get sick. Eating too little isn't good either. Like too little milk, excess flour makes them dry. Too little makes them runny, as does too much milk. Too many eggs make them tastes like omelets. Too little eggs make them bready. Sugar and salt simply have to be added. You cannot skimp on them.
People like different toppings all around. My SO swears by Norwegian brown cheese, but I only seem to like that when the waffles are cold and you eat them kinda like sandwiches. She doesn't understand that, but then again I'm Dutch, we do a lot of strange things. I like to just add some butter and sugar, though I can go for strawberry jam every once in a while too. Haven't tried maple syrup yet, but I hear good things about that.
All in all the business of waffle eating is very complicated and confusing. But is it good?
And how many more can I eat before the keyboard becomes too greasy for me to type on?

Personally, I prefer pancakes.
I'd add more, but the truth of my remark is self-evident.

waffles have the shape that keeps syrup from running off the sides

Exactly. It's unaesthetic. There is none of the visual appeal of a sugary waterfall slowly embracing a stack of fresh, hot pancakes.

I usually prefer more savoury breakfasts, but when it comes to the sweeter concoctions... in my view absolutely nothing beats crêpes.. served the traditional way.. butter, sugar, and freshly squeezed lemon juice.
Not too heavy like pancakes, no worries about consistency as with waffles.. just simple bliss.

I've gotta say this is the best thread I have ever seen on this site, maybe even of all time.

I rarely ate Waffels before coming to Belgium, and they vary so much here... a hot sugar waffel straight from the Iron you can't beat, or a Liege Waffel dripping in dark belgian chocolate with strawberries....

Of course. One of the major food groups, right up there alongside chocolate in terms of its importance to human health.

Little-known fact: Jefferson actually proposed the addition of a fourth branch to the US national government, entitled "IHOP."
As if any further proof of the vast superiority of pancakes over waffles was needed, just ask Kid Rock.

Crepes(I forget how to do the hat) are my favorite, but I can't find them in the US, and my parents don't like when I cook. Failing that, waffles are a good second. Walnuts, blueberries, butter, and whipped cream with syrup...

Wallcream, bluenuts, whipped berries and butter with syrup.
(Note: I had no reason for saying that, but that's kinda how I fly.)

I concur, DW. Crepes are innately superior.
Lately I have discovered organic blue agave nectar...an interesting compromise of honey and syrup, low on the glycemic index and 25% sweeter than sugar...drizzle this on crepes; add it to hot tea or coffee; or otherwise find an excuse to use it...it's pretty nifty.
It also holds the distinction of being the plant ingredient used to make tequila. Blue Agave + Crepes = Superior-ness.
