Eye of the sigil

I'm in the sigil room, I have freed Valdane.

I have the gas mask.

This is the quote from the walkthrough

" The eye of the sigil is located in the container in the center of the room. To open the container, you'll need to pull the lever on the southern wall. "

I have been all over that room and CAN'T find any lever.

Any help would be great.

It's on the opposite wall from the entrance to the room. When you enter the room, go straight to the other side. The lever is on the wall.
