New to Dungeon lords CE but not to RPGs

Actually I have not received my copy yet (Amazon shipped it two weeks ago via the post office, oh, oh), but I have played through the demo twice. The reason I have not tried this game until now was because of some bad reviews. But the CE version seemed to have cleared the problems up. Not one of those reviews ever mentioned the story line, which I find interesting. The first RPG I ever played was wizardry on the apple II, and DW Bradley made it interesting without a lot of fancy and involved graphics.
I own many RPG's and frankly the current ones which have been introduced with great fanfare are disappointing. What ever happened to the thrill of discovery and using some ingenuity to slove problems. RPGs have become more technically sophisticated but they have lost the lure of the story line and seemed to be too contrived now to be of any entertainment value.
Actually Duingeon Lords does a much better job of telling a story and keeping you interested. While there is a path to follow it doesn't intrude upon your freedom with the game. It has a certain entertainment value that the more heralded RPGs are sadly lacking.
I do have a question however, how do you identify things. I played a dwarf and he seemed to always id new equipment if he had a 50% chance, but I also played a human female warrior and she never ID' d anything. Love the game.
Will there be a mod builder with the next version? Hope so.
