Choosing a weapon

Hey there,

this may sound a little stupid, but I'm going to ask a question I think I already know the answer to, but I need a little confirmation. I've just started another run through NWN2(OC + MotB + possibly SoZ afterwards). The build I'm playing is going to be a 27Rogue/2Fighter/1Shadowdancer ending up with Epic Precision, Perfect Two Weapon Fighting and +19d6 Sneak Attack Damage.

Originally I wanted to dual-wield Kukris because of their high crit range & low TWF penalty. While playing though, I noticed that daggers look way cooler imho and I generally like the idea of using the 'classic' rogue weapons. However Daggers are obviously statistically worse than Kukris, which is kinda bugging me a bit. But then again, 90% of my damage in the later levels is going to come from Sneak Attack & Elemental Damage(enchantments) anyways, all of which aren't multiplied by critical hits.

Now my question is, what weapon should I go with? Daggers for personal taste, or Kukris for better combat performance? Please give me an elaborate answer if you find the time. It would be much appreciated!

So long,
Sol

If you don't mind the loss in critical's, then daggers aren't a great deal worse.

Even with the loss in critical's many opponents are critically/sneak attack immune, so it doesn't make a huge difference for a character that doesn't emphasize Strength.

Either way, it's going to be a tough "ride" early-on, but once you get HiPS with some extra sneak attack damage you'll have a much easier go of it.

As far as the OC is concerned I am inclined to agree. The OC focuses too much on creatures that are resistent to criticals. I haven't played beyond lv 20 though, so what's out there beyond the OC.. I figure there's an amount of dragons and constructs.

You'd be better of getting any other non-critical weapon. Add a sonic damage bonus too it, very few creatures can resist that.

Thx for the responses so far. There's something you might have misunderstood though I think. Game Difficulty is no problem whatsoever. I've played through the OC and MotB multiple times and have never had any issues beating an encounter/dungeon/boss.

Why not both? Is your build so tight you can't fit in Weapon Focus for each? Even if you can't, the +1 shouldn't make so big of a difference gamewise, especially if it's an easy run for you. Just keep both on hand, and switch them out. Eventually, you'll figure out which ones you like more.

Oh, and you can't use the OC/MotB character in SoZ. Wasn't sure if you knew that.

Mine was more of a general comment.. it will be more difficult (than otherwise), not that it will actually result in something difficult.

What's immune to criticals/backstabs will get cut-down just the same with daggers having elemental damage.
