Well I just thought I'd try Baldur's Gate 2 for the first time and so far its been great! However I do have one problem, I'm doing Nalia's quest for chapter 2 and I just beat TorGal, cloudkill one shotted him :) , but when I leave or go anywhere there's no update to my journal and no one has talked to me saying that I beat the quest. I tried going back to the palisades to talk to the captain and he said I hadn't dealt with the invaders. I didn't make any back up saves, like an idiot, so I don't want to start over, any help?

Have you found the body of Nalias father (in the same room as Torgal)? I may be wrong but i think that it might trigger the end of the quest.

There is also another room, with another enemy, you need to visit to finish it all off.

I had found the body. I played some more and absolutely scoured the castle, it seems some of the monsters respawn? As there were times where I had searched the area before and then came back to find monsters. I'm pretty sure I have looked everywhere, but still no dialogue or anything, not when I leave the castle or when I go back to the room where I killed TorGal.

This may or may not be of any use, but I always do it with the quest and it somehow gives me a definitive feeling of having saved the castle:

Go outside and search the battlements, right to the top. You may or may not have done this but there's (spoiler, highlight the text)...
Spoiler
a wheel that you can turn to allow reinforcements into the castle
which may help completing the quest.

As mentioned, the only other criteria I can think of is killing Torgal, seeing Nalia's father, and PERHAPS rescuing another of her relatives.

Also of course the critical person to talk to if she's not in your party is Nalia, not the captain. If Nalia is in the party she should automatically close the quest after leaving the keep after killing Torgal. If she's not in the party then she should be in the palisades and she should close the quest when you speak to her. If she's died before completing the quest then I think you're out of luck, I could be wrong, it's never happened to me, maybe someone else can clarify.

PS If she was in the party at some point, and you dismissed her, she should be back at the Copper Coronet, go there and try talking to her.

When I was playing as evil, I let Nalia die during this quest just to see what would happen at the end, you must then talk to the Captain, I think you get some small amount of money as a reward. He is sad because both Nalia and her father died and then he leaves, saying that now Roenalls will probably take over the castle or sth. similar.

But I guess that didn't happen in your case.

Spoiler,
Spoiler
Have you killed the captain of the old guard in the secret room? The one with the last flailhead?

I have Nalia in my party and i have tried to talking to her, she has nothing to say to me, spoilers-->
Spoiler
I had killed the guard with the flail head, I had turned the wheel to let the guards in.
By leaving the keep, do you mean leaving the actual area or leaving the physical keep. I have not left the area yet. I have gone through the keep several more times, as well as the perimeter of the keep and found some more trolls, which I killed and still the quest didn't update. One of the things i didn't do was find
Spoiler
the fourth dog to kill to make the dog stew, I do not know if i killed it and the loot bag is just lying around somewhere or whether the dog ran off, but so far I haven't found either of them.

I never kill the dogs,
Spoiler
rather have the challenge of the UHs
than kill nice and innocent pets, I play good and I love dogs. So you can rule out that possibility.

Have you been to every part of the Keep roof? That is where she usually starts talking and give you the Stronghold.

You are a fighter, right? And have no other Stronghold?

I just finished it with no problems BTW, I only had Nalia in my party when speaking to Daleson, then when emerging from slaughtering everything inside, letting the guards in and looting all nooks and crannies cause I am not certain whether getting it as SH empties them all, I talked to her; she included herself in my party to give me the Keep, then I kicked her again and everything is honky-dory.

Perhaps you should try and kick her, tell her to wait right there, then re-include her.

I think if you have tried all this, you should either give it up or reload before you do the quest then try to do it with her in the party.

I've been to the roof, every part. I kicked Nalia out, then got to her to join again, she just asks about what Daleson said and then gets in my party like nothing happened. After doing that I took her all around the keep again, including to the place with her fathers dead body and again nothing happened. Now before I give up hope I'm going to try one last thing and spawn TorGal again in that room with the CLUA console, going to see If I missed the trigger for the quest to end by one shotting him with cloud kill.

HAH! It worked! It seems I was right, I killed Torgal too soon for the trigger to take effect. After spawning him again and subsequently killing him again Nalia talked to me and my quest updated. Thanks for the help guys, I will continue to make my way through the game now :) !

Congrats and good luck. If you keep Nalia in your party you get some additional Roenal fun.

By any chance the first time you killed him, did he die before he could recite his speech? the 'No sneaking up on Torgal etc.' followed by an interchange with you?

I never thought about that, and I should have, that's a bug that runs throughout the game, it can happen with any encounter where the final scene is triggered by a silly dying speech. Apologies for not spotting it.

I got the bulk of the speech the first time around. However I did set up a death trap before hand. Had Aerie and Nalia go invisible and free actioned both of them. Had them run behind TorGal so I webbed the whole room then dropped a cloudkill, TorGal died and then I went about killin the other two trolls. No response at all from Nalia. I think that when I moved Nalia behind him it triggered the speech but she didn't respond to it at all. The second time I killed him she had something to say after the battle.
