Spoilers ahead, highlight to read.
Spoiler
The Tuigan Short Bow that the Beastmaster in The Copper Coronet uses is pretty good, no high bonus, but three shots a round also counts...

There is a good Longbow in the Golem Room in the DeArnise Keep, I seem to recal it is +3.
I do not know where the others are, but the SoA section of the Gamebanshee Org has a list of all items, their abilities and locations. I refer you to that.

Ok, the best longbow is: (spoiler)
Spoiler
Heartseeker +3, which can be found in the windspear hills dungeon in a hidden cave near the werewolves, and close to the troll/werewolf mini sequence fight.
It's fairly heavily guarded, however.

And the best shortbow is: (spoiler)
Spoiler
The short bow of Gesen, which is forged by Cromwell with the shaft which is found at the lowest level of Reijek Hidesman's lair in the Bridge district, and the string, which is found in a room full of golems, north of the mithril token machine in Bodhi's labyrinth.
Just my opinion, and there are a couple of other bows which are very close contenders, and one which is worth using for a quickslot.

Ah thanks for the ideas.

I'd like to know if you can get a bow that is just full on power :p

By the way... should an archer just be full on power or what?

Full on power meaning?

Well attack power, even if its combined with fire, acid damage or whatever.

I am still not certain what you are asking, but to me it seems a good idea to max out damage.

I want a bow with heaps of attack.

And if there's a bow that slows things, stuns, stuff around that area, I want to know about that too.

I can't really explain it any better.

Meaning that you ask whether it is a good idea to max out damage, Yes it is.

The best of such have already been mentioned, unless you include ToB, there is
Spoiler
a very good X-Bow in The Cult Section
too.

You should have
Spoiler
short bow of Gesen
at ALL times, even if only in inventory. Why? Well, because
Spoiler
its damage is electrical and ignores stoneskin.

For full on damage: Heartseeker equiped with arrows of peircing. Ouch.

For full on f**k you up whatever you are: Gesen with arrows of ice/fire/acid.

That's what I'd do, anyway. There is also a bug which means that the short bow of Gesen will do its own damage PLUS the damage of the arrows it's equiped with, potentially making it more damaging than Heartseeker. However, I'm told it IS a bug, and some mods may fix it. As far as I'm concerned, if it's in the vanilla game, it's legal.

They're the two bows my man, plus perhaps
Spoiler
strong arm which is like a poorer mans heartseeker, ripper; the most damaging short bow after gesen (I think), mana bow for 20%mr, and perhaps tugian and tanesheron's as other short bow options.
Think that's it!

The most damaging bow is Eagle Bow from BG1. Adds your str bonus. It technically IS in the game (it's in shadowkeeper) but don't think you can find it anywhere, maybe if you have it on your character when importing from BG1? Idk.

Also, all slings own for this same reason. All slings get str bonus (not just sling of seeking, all of them). GWW and sling is my fav dragon killer.

Since we went a bit off topic anyway, and since i know that you're using Tactics mod..

The spear from
Spoiler
Red Badge
is a true ranged killer :) Insane damage, can be used as melee weapon too, knocks enemies down, leaves a damage over time effect. The downside of this weapon is.. Well.. Getting it. The encounter is an epic struggle which ends in just a few rounds, regardless of who wins

The downside to throwing spears is SLOWWW projectile. Seriously a halfling can skip faster than those things travel. Idk, it bugs me enough not to use them (they do crazy damage, Throwing Impaler has like +10 damage right on the weapon plus I am pretty sure they use str bonus as well).

This is why i use them from almost-melee-range. The spear thrower stands always right behind my tank (which is a sorcerer) the projectile flight time is short then, and the damage builds up very fast.

Slings, eh?

Well...

What does more damage then...

Bow of Gesen + Acid/Fire/Ice arrows /Heartseeker + armor piercing arrows or the best sling in the game with best... Rock thingoes?

Haha you are getting so technical with it :D I don't feel like doing calculations but my Archer/Cleric (multi) was doing 40 a hit with errine sling and +4 bullets. Pretty sure you aren't going to get higher than that with any other ranged weapon (well maybe spears but they don't count lol).

Yeah well I wanna make a really good party.

And 40 damage? Holy shiz!

I'll have to try that out... And are you serious? 5th level of Watcher's Keep?

God damn it. Ah well, I'm off to conquer the Watcher's Keep now.

Keep in mind that legally, you can't have an Archer/Cleric multiclass and that the dual class is only possible before the installation of ToB.

Is archer/cleric really that good though?
