Hi again!

Playing Human Noble rouge, dual wielding. Will go for duelist.

When calculating armor, I notice that I have a number of 60 and wearing lether armor, leather boots and leather gloves.

My questions:

(a) will my armor value increase when raising dex? How much, is there a table where I can study whether it is "worth it" or if I should focus on e g cunning.

(b) will my armor value increase if I buy new (better) equipment? Yes, probably. But I lack a table how that is calculated. I bought my game through EA and downloaded it (perfectly legal, please note!) and I have no manual.

Many thanks for any input (I prefer to be able to consult a table before raising stats, buying euipment etc )

It is very much worthwhile to install the mod linked in the thread. Installing it will provide you with answers to many of your questions I think.

Second, let me correct some game terminology because it's important from a combat standpoint to know the difference in some terms in Dragon Age. The value that you are referring to as "Armor" is actually called Defense in Dragon Age and represents only the chance to be struck by an opponent's attack. When an opponent attacks you, the game compares the Opponent's Attack value versus your Defense value while including a number of other factors like flanking, elevation, buffs, etc. to determine the chance that the attack will hit you. What Dragon Age calls Armor is actually listed next to the Helmet symbol on your character sheet. It represents a number of points of damage that will be absorbed on each attack by an enemy. So if an enemy would normally do 7 points of damage on a sucessful attack against an unarmored character, he will only do 4 points against a character wearing equipment with an Armor value of 3.

Now to answer the equipment and statistic questions. While some equipment adds to Defense, armor pieces (chest pieces, helmets, boots, gloves) do not necessarilly do so. Each armor piece will have an Armor value, however. The largest component to your Defense typically will be your Dexterity, which adds 1 point to Defense per 1 point of Dexterity above 10. For a Dual-Weapon Rogue, it is generally suggested to improve Defense over Armor since high Dexterity is required for Rogue and Two Weapon Talents and heavy armor types require high Strength while imposing greater Fatigue penalties.
