Messed up by killing larrel by accident and no saved games; any workaround?

Man, this really annoyed me when I realized what I did.

Took me a while to realize that I might have screwed up as the severed hand's labyrinthine structure made me wonder if I'd just missed some room somewhere but to no avail.

I killed him once, then thought let me check I shouldn't talk to him, so reloaded and thought I did the other chat option but guess I didn't. I suppose this is what I get for only skimming most of the chat dialogues :( .

So like I said I reloaded and did it AGAIN thinking that it would have gone that way either way (thinking, in hindsight obviously mistakenly, that I'd exhausted both dialogue options) so after killing him and his accomplice I save the game; and no I didn't do periodic saves :( . I did a couple early on in case something like this happened but then got lazy and just hit 'Q' every couple mins after a fight.

So anyway I'm screwed now and would have to start the game over which is not something I think I'd be able to swallow any time soon. I'd prob just not play it any more :( .

Is there any way I can get to say the start of chapter 3 again as that wouldn't be so bad, with my characters still intact?

Or ideally perhaps a saved game off someone else just before the larrel bit which I can import my chars into?

Hope so! Or I'm gonna have a tantrum and caste the game to the wastes (metaphorically).

Autosave

Unless you made your last save after killing Larrel overtop the "Autosave" slot, you should be able to load the autosave and not have too much to redo. IIRC, I think the game autosaves when you go up from the library into the laboratory where Larrel is.

That is no good cos like I said I overwrote the last quicksave and then walked around many different areas so the autosave saves after every new area so that was long gone when I realized I may have screwed up.

Any one else think of a workaround?

Try spawning him with CLUAConsole?

Ok, so I've got the clua thing going but where do I find the specific larrel file? plus I'll need his gelerith assistant to spawn too. Would they count as 'creatures' as that seems to be the only thing I can spawn with this and even so I can't find the 'cre' files which supposedly exist to use with this spawn command.

What a piece of ****, the only command which I wanted to use has in capitals: NOT AVAILABLE FOR ICEWIND DALE, HEART OF WINTER OR TRIALS OF THE LUREMASTER

Hmm, have you successfully spawned creatures in icewind dale? I've found the "CRE" files but it says this code can't be used in icewind dale

No, but I know it works in BG.
