Items for a cleric in Pool of Radiance (1988)

A shopkeeper in Civilized Area sells mysterious items for a cleric. What are they for and how can I use them? I can’t find any information.

Brass mirror
Silver mirror
Wooden holy symbol of Tyr
Iron holy symbol of Tempus
Silver holy symbol of Sune
Holy water vial


And what is the difference between Search and Look mode?
