Well I have a bit of a problem here. I just recently started playing Fallout (the first one). Now I never like to have more than one save, I always overwrite, which is the the cause of the problem here. I went into the military base, and made it all the way down to the VATS, used the science skill and yadayada, (now remember, this is my first time playing this) and I didn't understand what the numbers meant, so I chose the first one. It turned out to be the 60 second self destruct timer. Now me, being the stupid person that I am, saved, I overwrote my file with 55 seconds left. Now, no matter how fast I go, no matter what I try, I can't get out in time. Even if it gives me 20 extra seconds, I can never get out in time. So is there any way for me to get out of the base faster? Or maybe stop the timer? If not, is there ANY way I could get back an overwritten save file?

Hm. This might not work, but try moving throughout the complex in combat mode (which you'll call VATS if you played fallout 3 first) rather than the.. well normal mode. It might help you skip time a little.

Its hard to say try to take off all your gear maby you can run faster?my major is in fallout 3 not any other all i can say is to start over or get a game shark and go online and get an accont there and ppl post up saved game files for every game you can think of try to down load those game files to your game shark(you have to buy it from a store)and see if that helps uif that dont work or if you cant get the game shark all you can do is start over i guess

You could try using a character editor and give yourself hundreds of action points, that way you could go into combat and run all the way to the elevator.
