Computer doesn't detect videocard and audiobox

I had a virus on my computer that kind of destroyed everything. So i formatted my computer and now I'm starting over. Now the problem: my computer won't detect my videocard (a ATI radeon, doesn't really matter). Pretty anoying, since now everytime I try to scroll down a page, it refreshes per scroll. I know where to go to see my videocard, but the screen is now just empty.

Also, my computer won't detect my boxes for audio.

Any help?

And you have installed correct drivers from ATI for your video card?

I can't. Whenever I try to install it, it stops the install, saying something in the likes that it doesn't detect any videocard. So it is like I don't even have a videocard on this computer.

How exactly did you format your computer? Do you use partitions?

I didn't do it alone, so I might be wrong, but I think we did it with a windows disc. We only formatted our C drive, since we were sure that the virus was there.

Try taking the gfx card out and putting it back in.
No format should be able to affect hardware like that.

Even if the virus did destroy or alter the hardware, reformatting should have restored it...
If you can't find anything on the internet I personally would try contacting either your computer brand or video card brand technical/customer support service, or contacting a company that fixes computers. Usually you can explain the problem and they can either tell you how to fix it or give you an estimate of how much it will cost for either the parts for you to repair it or to fix it themselves.

Well, now I installed Ubuntu and everything seems to be okay now. I don't know how to unzip, so I don't have anti-virus (I think, I don't know how Ubuntu works).

Another thing you could try is to clear your CMOS and redo the options in your BIOS, assuming you have access to that.

For your audio, check Device Manager. Probably no driver. Realtek?
