Any fountains of experiance in BG1?

Are there any spawning places in BG1 where you can exploit the game and get huge amounts of experience? I know of one - in the pirates cave the flesh golems will spawn if you try to sleep, but they can be tough to chop down. Any other reliable spawning locations? Any of those situations where you can talk to someone multiple times to get the XP award?

Depending on your equipment and party make-up, the Sirines just outside the Flesh Golem cave may be slightly easier to milk for XP.
No really great XP fountains that I know of, but then again, you'll cap out looong before reaching the end if you don't skip any quests or areas.

Since the Sirines are worth 2K xp each, I'll say that this is a great place to get such xp.

I got a great place where me and my bro went numerous times and lvlled our ppl LOADS:
Ankheg cave! they spawn almost every time you try to rest and if you put the difficulty on core rules (that is, if you were on easy) you get about 1000 each time! it is really great, cos they dont wear out all ur spells etc. really quickly

Uhm levelling up in bg1 is REALLY not recommended since you reach the end of the cap anyway without doing too much extra stuff,it's a shame really but that's how ad&d works.

Betwen Gullykin an Ulcasters school is a place full of bassilisks. Put protection from petrification on your fighters or use potion of mirrored eyes and hack them.
Greater bassilisk gives you 7000 XP.

The flesh golem cave near the sirien's is another fountain of Xp (2000xp each) and 9 times out of ten they will respawn when you rest.
Tip: Darts of wounding work well here (you even obtain some in the pond).

This is not exactly helpful, but I know of a REALLY good one in BG2.
While doing the Jaheira's Curse quest, when you're ready to confront Ployer, go to the Government district. There, Torrence will offer a service of NOT backing-up Ployer.
Now, go to Ployer's place (Derelict House in Slums). Talk to him until you can make him agree never to do it again, thus humbling him. You get 36800 quest xp. THEN, Jahiera steps up and spouts "No mercy for Harper's killers", or some drivel like that. She will kill him, and you get the 36800 quest xp AGAIN! Give it a try, it works!

That would be at the beach, of course.
The lighthouse area, if I'm not mistaken. Can't really miss it if you follow the coastline, though.

The Sirines outside the cave in the Lighthouse area are the best respawning experience area because in addition to 2000 XP per siren, one also gets one Pearl and 5 Arrows of Biting. Note that Pearls are worth 100 GP each. This adds up. The arrows make great ammo for your archers.

This is fine if you're evil but if you r good and roleplaying nicely you would have only killed 6 (I think) like the nice ranger told you. The final maze (if you are that far) is great since all the creatures r worth loads of xp, and I agree the basiliscs are great if you have potions of mirrored eyes - but these r few and far between!

For the Ankhegs you could kill your quota, talk to the ranger (who will leave), then continue hunting.

That really does rely on your alignment though as I said before.

Just have your mage memorize Protection From Petrification and cast it on the fighters who will battle the basilisks.

Animate dead works great for basilisks, just put them out front to take the stone gaze and unload the arrows, bolts, and bullets from behind your boney buddies. The skeletons are immune to the effect I believe. No need for any protection from petri. Monster summoning I or the wand of summoning also works, though your pets will get stoned.

I never had much of a problem with the basilisks, really.. I came in from the South end so I didn't have Korax as an immediate shield, but it turns out I didn't need him. I pounded the basilisks with arrows, stones, and magic missiles, while Ryo rushed up and hacked them to death with Varscona. Occasionally one of them would petrify Ryo or Minsc, but it didn't happen very often, and I just reloaded and killed them the next time around.

Why Don't you just get the xp-cap module.

I prefer the Ulcaster dungeon as a source of XP. The dread wolfs (as well as dire wolfs and huge spiders) respawn very fast. A dread-wolf is 650 XP. And they are much less dangerous than Flesh Golems or Sirens.
You'll easily get 40.000 XP or more without going to sleep.

Why tap xp in BG1 you will always reach the cap if you do most of the main quests anyway. You only have to go and hunt baselisks with korax in the beginning of teh game and you will be powerful enough to glide through the game with out stopping once (well maybe at the ta'narii) If you are really fat you can level up to level 5 or six while hunting baselisks, and by that time nashkel mines are a peice of cake
