Never had this problem before but now of course, years later, i'm on a completley different computer. i5 650.

installed it and its running fine. I ran it under 1600 resolution and the load up screen is glitchy but the game seems to load up and play fine until I try to equip Mincs with a weapon that I get the little blueish Windows circle loading and it just never loads. So I click on the mouse and it crashes the game.

On 800x600 it behaves normally so does the load screen. Only thing the same is if I click on the Throne of Bhaal (to start the adventure there). On any resolution the game asks for the ToB Game disk, even though it is a real legal copy and in the drive...

My video card is a ATI 5570 1GB

First, do a minimum install. then copy the CD folders on the SOA and TOB discs into your SOA folder. Then open baldur.ini in the SOA folder and add the following lines (look at the bottom for the TOB disc):

CD1:=C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\English\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\CD1\
CD2:=C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\CD2\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\English\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\CD2\
CD3:=C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\English\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\CD3\
CD4:=C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\English\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\CD4\
CD5:=C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\CD5\

The first lines are probably there, depending on which type of installation you have. If not, do the same trick with them as well. Basically, you're faking the computer to believe that the TOB and SOA discs are located in your SOA folder.

Then look for the line called
Install Type=
and put a 3 in there:
Install Type=3

Now, the paths for my cds is special to my computer. On your computer the SOA folder is probably located somewhere else.
Example: CD5:=C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\CD5\ <- mine.
Yours? Well...

I had the same problem with the TOB disc, and it solved it for me. I did a minimum install, and by following the steps above, you fool the computer into believing that you've done a full install.

Now, if you've already done a full install, I'm not sure if it helps.
