I'm thinking of making an all mage party.
Me (mage/thief)
Edwin
Xan
Xzar
Quale (but later on in the game so i have to do it wthout cleric's untill then)
I thnk i'm gonna edit some robes of X Archmagi into the game (or else it's almost impossible)
But is it possible wth this party???
I think it's realy hard (to hard)

i don't think it's impossible, but it would be hard. The party you described has a thief skill, so that's good, and so that character could be "the tank" if it got too rough, but in general you can charm or sleep a lot of the enemies, Strength and invisibility spells last a long time, missile weapons are effective (darts), and mages don't have a lot of hp to heal, so potions will go a long way.
Why not Imoen dualled to illusionist in the party, BTW??

Interesting thought. I think it might be fairly easy early on with the wand of magic missiles, and the wand of frost, along with sleep and magic missile spells. Plus, IIRC, mages have a better chance of saving against magic, so the only real weakness is the lack of hp. I might just have to try a group of mages myself. Since in later levels you can have wands of monster summoning, who knows, it could be easier than perceived - but the risk is that your mages all run out of spells - YIKES!

I'll tell you now its nigh-on impossible.
You can do it but its really boring:
Youn will use so many of the spells and wands in trying to keep monsters from your spellcasters that you will have to rest every few battle.
Admittedly you have a helluva lot more spells available as you have a helluva lot more mages but its still extremely difficult.

Resting is not easy in BG1...
Would you really need a Thief? I'd guess that a Fighter/Mage might serve you better. If you get Imoen to dual, you have Thief. Quayle has Cleric (only he's hard to get in the beginning of the game...). You only miss a Fighter.

But how will you fight Sarevok. You'll have to rely on your summoned monsters to kill him but that will take hundreds of wands and hours.
The good side it that you can get rid of all the weapons you get, even those +2 weapons which you can sell for 1000's of gp.

Can you get quale early in the game??? how???
And i need a thief for the removng of traps!!! Cause mages have no HP they an't set a trap off. and i don't want to dual imoen cause i only want mages (worked in BG2) and she sucks as a thief when u duel her at the start. But a fghter mage would be a nice adon (can't you duel shar-teel??)

Weapons woulb be a big problem, but you'll have a Qstaff +3 the moonblade (+3) a slng +3 and my thief/mage can use the eagle bow (arows of detonation work well on serevok) and don't forget then 5mages summoning monsters will create ALOT of creatures to hold off enemy's whill the long range weapons help killing the rest off

When I had Shar-Teel in my party, I considered dualling her, but it didn't give me any possible options to dual her to.
I've been considering an all mage party as well. My plan includes Imoen, but keeping her a thief until level 6 or 7 to improve her thieving skills, then dualling her. I also considered using a thief/mage for my char.

..or perhaps not, but he is damn cool anyway.

Sarevok is a slice of blackberry pie.
A mage with two rings of wizardry on can cast 12 maagic missile spells.
Get one of the more flimsy and useless mages and arm them with boots of the cheetah they act as the bait for Sarevok and run circles around him, while your best mage uses up his arsenal of spells on him.
jsut summon some monsters to keep Tazok & co. at bay

Only way to get Quayle early (without cheating) would be to rush through the storyline rather quickly... I'd suggest a lot of Invisibility.
Even if you immediately dual Immy to Mage, she'll be
much more useful than for example Xzar, Xan or Dynaheir. Immy has superb Mage stats.
Shar-Teel could be dualled to
something (but I forgot whether it was Thief or Mage) after using one of the Tomes.

Edwin with one Ring of Wizardry can cast 12 Magic missiles at level 5.
So the ring can be put to better use.
An all mage party makes spells like stinking cloud en web much more intresting cause (as i found out) even bandid's can be a heck of a problem!
