BG2 silver dragon

This is so stupid. I have beaten this game numerous times. But due to the fact that my computer is having issues I went back to BG 2. I am in the underdark. I can't get into the lair? of the silver dragon. I killed the balrog and got the stone to find the silver dragon but I can't find it. I see the staircase icon but my team doesn't seem to be able to go there. Any help would be great.

Is it possible that you are trying to access the cave directly from the Svirfnebli village? I can't check right now but I think it's possible to see the cave if you go far enough to the right while in the village.
To get into the cave, you need to pass through the underdark area and across a drow-made bridge where a drow patrol teleports in and attacks you. Then you reach a drow-made corridor of sorts, where one way goes to Ust Natha and another to the Silver Dragon Cave.

Yes, as far as I can recall you have to beat the large Drow group right before Ust'Natha to access the Silver Dragon's cave. Once you beat them and cross the bridge, the path opens up in two directions: East, to the Drow city, and north to the Cave you're looking for. It's unavailable from the Gnome village.

There is little narrow passage heading to north at the mid-right section of map, and I was also unable to find that passage for half an hour. Use far-sight spell (if you have it), and brighten up all your map. Put mouse cursor everywhere and you will eventually find it.
Also it's normal that your team won't just walk there. Sometimes you have to click on closer-distance. Sometimes your team wonders around at the wrong place, and I also hate that. Try to move all your chars to that passage first. Then simply go up. Hope this helped.
