Problem with Unforgiven - Battle with Professor

Greeting!
Frustrated I am with the battle with the professor in Witcher.
I am in a cave where the mage just left leaving the professor and two nice bugs. The problem is simple:
If I go for the bugs, the professor works me down/stuns and I die.
If I go for the professor, the bugs work me down and I die.
I have access to all potions as well as bombs.
Any recommendations on what to do; tactics; potions to use; and what to target first?
Are there any places in the cave that give more shelter?
