I played BG2 on my oldie and it still has a very special place in my mind, being the king of RPGs as we know them. I recently decided I should play it some more, maybe try some of the melee classes.

Well, I couldn't.

I installed both games(SoA and ToB), installed the Gibberlings 3 fix pack, then installed a wide screen mod. Nothing changed.

When I start the game, my menus are weird, and I can see no text.

Solution found, posting here to help other people with same trouble:

If you get text blurred like that, the problem is in your DPI settings, that may come with a high quality mouse driver, or a similar thing. Well the solution, at least on windows 7 is in compatibility mode. I toggled it around until I found the right option. Right click - Properties - Compatibility - Settings - Check "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings", problem solved.

I didn't see it in your list, but you should apply the official TOB patch before any mods or fixpacks. Just FYI.

Installed it, but forgot to note it. It's not the problem in that.
