Should I copy Mechanus Cannon into my spellbook?

I got the spell Mechanus Cannon (lvl 8) from the construct wizard. Is it worth copying it into my spellbook or should I just use it once from the scroll?
According to manual, I'll only be able to cast level 8 spells at 2.25M XP. I'm currently doing the Clerk's Ward with 500k XP. Will I ever gain enough XP to be able to cast level 8 spells?
(I know I can farm the Mordon's cube for infinite XP, but I really don't want to do it).
