Did something a little out of the ordinary this trip through IWD2. I really like the blue Ioun stone that Oinchack'Olp asks you to recover for him. **spoiler**

It gives the user +2 wisdom
Granted there is ring that is far and away better but I had 2 characters that I wanted to enhance in that stat. Also didn't want to give up the XP for returning it. **spoiler**

Oinchack'Olp plane shifts out right after you return it, and there is no dialogue option I know of to talk him out of it. If you want it, you have to either never speak with him again or fight him but either way that sacrifices the XP.
Played around and figured out a way to get the XP and the stone. It is a little cheesy as you have to use the pause button though. But since I hate mindflayers, well I just couldn't seem to stop myself from going over to the dark side. ;)

You do have "1" round before Oinchack'Olp plane shifts out after you give him the stone. You have to maximize damage in that one round. Since he does not speak to you as you approach so you can set this up rather easily. This worked like a charm for me, I summoned two undead (I think they were elite boneguards) and used them in conjunction with most of my party to surround Oinchack'Olp. I put my 2 best missle weapon members within range but apart from his thralls. I paused the game and then ordered the entire party to attack. Before unpausing I then clicked on the party member that was the least damage inflicting and ordered them to speak to Oinchack'Olp. I then unpaused the game. He gets the stone, I get the XP, and then he gets cut down "like a blade through grass." The thralls still attack but they are fairly easy to take down. When you loot the body, there's the stone. You also get the XP for killing him as well.
I doubt I'll do again since it is a little cheesy and the XP isn't really all that much. I think it was more the challenge to see if I could pull it off.

You get the same amount of quest experience for refusing to give him the stone as you do if you were to give it to him (the quest entry is something like 'you refused to give him the stone and he got angry'). Then when he got angry and I fought him, he dropped the belt. So I got both items and the quest experience. No need for cheese.
