My favourite comedy actor, and the only non-family person whos death will sadden me.

As for me, there's plenty other artists that I'm missing (like Jeremi Przybora) and will miss (like Terry Pratchett) when they're gone.
Fortunately, we still have the films. They will be a little bittersweet now, but they are so absolutely brilliant...

He was
84 when he died. I think you're allowed to die by then.

I don't know what he was like as a person, but my thoughts go out ot the loved ones he left behind, even though as Tricky points out it was hardly 'before his time'.
As a comedian I found him just slightly funnier than a broken leg, a total bore; I certainly won't miss him from a viewer's point of view as I've avoided watching any film he's in for decades.
