Now THAT would GREAT! I just love Waterdeep, and only by the things I've heard about it! The City of Splendor...btw, isn't it even bigger a city than Baldur's Gate or Athkatla?

I was reading over my second edition Forgotten Realms box set last night and from the looks of it Waterdeep is a bigger city than BG or Athkatla. Right now I am doing a back ground story on one of my charachters and iam goin to have her as growing up in Waterdeep. Also has anyone gotten the new forgotten realms book for third edition.

Waterdeep is one of the most powerful cities in all of the Forgotten Realms. It is the largest city along the Sword Coast and ruled by the mysterious but benevolent Lords of Waterdeep. In terms of its geo-political influence, it would be comparable to the City of Greyhawk on Oerth or Palanthas on Krynn.
The single best resource on the City of Splendor is an AD&D2 module/campaign setting entitled Waterdeep and the North (New York: Random House Publishers, 1987, ISBN 0880384905). There is very little actual game information in the supplement, so I imagine that you could use it for D&D3 with a minimal amount of conversion. I'm sure it's out of publication, but you can probably pick it up at a local hobby store or through an internet gaming site.
