Quick question. I really wanna get some ToB spells that dont seem to be available in SoA, for example Mordenkainen's Sword... If I cross over to see Lazarus in Saradush, will I be able to export the character and start over in SoA?

Thanks boys :)

Mordenkainen's Sword scroll is a fairly common random drop. One of the guards in Waukeen's Promenade (on the left above Mira) has it, so does Carlig at the Duergar encampment (Underdark) when you visit him in drow form.

Edit : Disregard the amnish guard, apparently sometimes he has it, sometimes he does not, just checked myself. So the one in Carlig's inventory seems to be the only one that will be there for sure.

Mordenkainen's Sword is available in SoA.

But yes, you could start a character in ToB, export that character, and then start over in SoA.

However, it kind of ruins the storyline doing it like that and your character would be overpowered due to such a high level.

I would clear SoA before crossing over; in any case I've cleared the game in years passed and I have quite and extensive knowledge of the storyline.

Thanks for the help everyone!

I think the point Crenshinibon was making is that if you 'cross over' you'll be given 2.5 mil XP and a bag full of items, so you will then be over powered when you load into SoA, unless you are playing multi player that is.

Or you could just become a sorcerer and choose whichever spells you want.

If you are going to those lengths to get it, why not use Shadowkeeper or CLUA?

I guess I could use SK, but I think that would be more cheesey than crossing over and going back.

Another thing I was wondering, obviously my slayer transformation will cease to exist once I return. Do I get my old abilities back that it replaced? And do I get back the wisdom points I sacrificed in the asylum, etc? I guess I can use SK for that if not.

Thanks all,
- Rob

I honestly don't see how using SK is "cheesier" than crossing over. Because by using SK, you can just add the spell to your spellbook, instead of gaining over 2.5 million experience points in the process.

I assume that you're starting a new character in ToB, getting the spells and then importing the character into SoA. If that's the case, you will suffer no penalty when you start, but you will eventually lose a point of Wisdom.

However, if you're importing a character that has already lost a point of Wisdom into ToB, then no, that character won't get the point of Wisdom back. Also, unless you convert the game to multiplayer, import the character as the main character, and then covert it into a singleplayer game again (so you start from the same point at which you were before), you're bound to lose that point of Wisdom again.

- True enough. Though the fact remains that SK is a hack and crossing over is legit.

- No, I'll be clearing the game in SoA, crossing to ToB, buying the spells I need and cant find from Lazarus in Saradush, exporting the character, and restarting in SoA with some mods to make the game more difficult.

- Im not sure I understand. What would converting to MP and then changing back do that simply restarting the game with exported character from ToB wont?

Although technically, one could consider that cheating still.

Then by the time you finish SoA the second time, your character would have lost two points of Wisdom.

The point of this process is to import a character into a game that's currently still going.

Because otherwise, you can't do it.

...and you're saying using SK is a hack? Wow, that's about as big a cheat as you can get! Starting the game with 2.5 million XP and most of the spells, I don't think any mod or collection of mods can balance that!

Ok time out,

So what you're all saying is if I dont do that single to multi and back to single, I cant go back to SoA from ToB?

Whatever I might just cancel the whole operation. Im almost @ Ust'Natha and im fairly sure the spells im missing can be acquired.

Thanks for the help boys,

We responded with our views, that doesn't mean they are right, or that you should take any notice. Bottom line, you paid for the game, you have the right to play it however you like. There is no right or wrong, well apart from your right to use your property however you want.
