Is this possible?

I was hoping to save some complicated installation time on a 2nd computer (I intend to LAN at a later point). My installation is fully modded, but I don't even know what mods I included anymore. The 2nd installation on my girlfriend's computer is new. Can I just copy past my entire game directory in her own, clean game directory to instantly give her all the right mods? Will that mess up Weidu?
I was thinking about doing the same for Tutu and ToB.

You're asking whether or not you can instal BG2 and mods without running installers?
I'd say that copy/pasting mod folders would mess things up. It is possible naturally, but you'd have to mess up in registry a bit.

Damn. Well I better start both our installations from scratch then. It's probably for the best..

I tried the same thing after a screwed installation a while back and it didn't work.

Thanks for telling me. I usually need a day or so to figure out all the mods and load orders again, so it's good to know it really is necessary.

I've done it several times, between several different computers, and never had problems. All computers involved were running WinXP though.
You will not get the registry entries, but they're only used for one thing: To tell baldur.exe whether it should display the 'install game' options or those for playing it. Just use bgmain.exe to run the game instead and it'll be fine.
There is one thing you need to do after copying:
In baldur.ini, find the following lines and adjust them according to your installation folder:
[Alias]
HD0:=C:\Games\BG2-2\
CD1:=C:\Games\BG2-2\CD1\
CD2:=C:\Games\BG2-2\CD2\;C:\Games\BG2-2\CD2\
CD3:=C:\Games\BG2-2\CD3\
CD4:=C:\Games\BG2-2\CD4\
CD5:=C:\Games\BG2-2\CD5\
As you can see my BG2 folder is C:\Games\BG2-2\ (because I have copied it from a different, fully functional instance at C:\Games\BG2\ on the same computer).
I just noticed that my CD2 has a duplicate entry, I don't think you'll need that. You can uninstall and reinstall mods just fine after that, I've never seen a mod that stores any data outside the BG2 folder (WeiDU certainly doesn't).

In case you don't know, Gibberlings three updated their mod order list relatively recently (In the last few months).

Thanks. I'll have to redo a few then, as I had some backed up.

This may be teaching grandmother how to suck eggs, but I would check that you have the most up to date versions, as the modders are continually removing bugs.

It was mostly a backup to protect myself from sites going offline. I wish I had done the same for Morrowind, though so much has been lost there over the years.

A good idea. One of the TeamBG went missing for quite a while before it returned.

No it won't. I've done it and it worked like a charm.
