Just wondering, and I am really, really lazy, what can anyone here tell me about some of the dead deities of the Forgotten Realms? I am currently interested in Moander.
Thanks in advance.

Amaunator - Bureacracy, Contracts, Law, Order, The Sun, Rulership.
Fade away from unkown reasons.(the fall of the Netheril could be related to that)
Bane - Strife, Hatred, Tyranny.
Back again with "fear" for his porfolio (now he is strife, hatred, tyranny and fear)
Bhaal - Death, Especially violent or ritual death.
Still dead.
Earthmother - Moonshae Isles.
No, she have returned some time ago (I have say this 1001 times)
Garagos - War, skill-at-arms, destrution, plunder.
No he is alive.(Tempos did not kill him, at least not permentely)
Ibrundul - Caverns, Dungeons, The Underdark, Skulks
Yes, he is and shar after she kill him impersonates him and pretends that he is still alive.
Leira - Deception, Illusion.
Yes.
Moander - Rotting death, Decay, Corruption
Yes.
Myrkul - The Dead, Wasting, Decay, Corruption, Parasites, Old Age
No, she still lives, not as a god but inside the crown of horns.
Orcus - The Undead
He have come back with a new name so and she had to kill him again so.......
Waukeen - Trade, Money, Wealth
Still in her mortal form inprisoned in the lower planes, she will be back soon (during 1371).
There more gods that have died (like Gilgeam)but those are form other phatheons.

Thank guys, good info.

Was Moander Evil or more Neutral? How did his clerics behave? When did Finder kill him? If you know of a reference to this story, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Moander was part of the Azure Bonds trilogy continuing into Finders Bane (and there was another one after that but I cannot remember the name). Basically his earthly Avantar was firebreathed on by a red Dragon (great when you consist of rotting vegetable matter, ie: methane

) and his essence was then in Hell (The abyss or whatever, one of the lower plains) but continued to cause strife with the Saurials and Finder in the struggle to defeat moander (in the third book of the trilogy) takes over (this is by memory) Moanders godly essence (because he was brain washed by moander but it didn't stick) and become a lesser god (only one follower - later picks up some more from the Saurials).
For TSR fanatics the second of the finder's books was interesting in that Fizban (Paladine from Dragonlance) made an appearance in the Celestial beuracracy as well as the best race from Krynn - Kender (well only one [and not Tasslehoff]).
But the interesting thing for me was how Fizban fit in, because AO is the "token leader" of the Gods, but he reports to a higher being (as told in the Avantar trilogy) which begs the question on how far up do you go and how does Fizban fit into the heirachy.

Wasn't Bhaal killed in the Time of Troubles by Midnight (who later became Mystra) and Kelemvor (while he was still mortal)? I read this in the Avatar series.

Man you are mixed up.
Bhaal was slain by Cyric who was weilding Godsbane, which later turned out to be Mask's avatar.
Midnight is Mystra's successor, not the other way around.

Fizban from Dragonlance was also in the Forgotten Realms? How the hell did that happen. I thought they were different universes. After all they have different gods. Do the gods of the 2 universes know each other?

IIRC the beginning of Silverfall: Stories of the Seven Sisters and the tomes I read in Baldur's Gate, Mystra was killed by...one of those three guys mentioned in the tome(in BG) "Story of the Dead Three"(either "Story" or "History"). Her successor(I think someone said her name was Midnight) goes by the name Mystra starting imediately after she replaced Mystra.

mystra was killed by helm hen she tried to re enter her kingdom in the heavens without the tablets of fate, and when she refused to tell helm who took the tablets, she tried to attack him to get by but he easily slaughtered her, considering he was still a god and mystra was only an avatar at the tim

Is helm the most powerful god after Ao?
He's the keeper of planes or something like that, so he must have power over the other gods. He doesn't dominate them but he keeps them in check...

Correct, Helm did kill Mystra..and that is why Helm and those who serve "The Great Guard" are looked at with a degree of disfavor by the general population of the realms. It was not as it is now before the death of Mystra, Helm was a respected deity..as were his faithful. And no, Helm does not hold power over the other gods of Toril, though he is a greater power(Even being greater, much of his power has decreased since the times of troubles). He was simply assigned the task of holding the gates of the Outer Planes against the other powers of the Realms, after the gods fell to earth. At the time Cyric was the most powerful god within Toril..having adopted the portfolios of a number of greater deties..it was and still is his strategy and ego that have prevented him from succeeding in his tasks..not to mention reading the Cyrinishad.

temporary? it's not temporary. that's y Midnight had to take over her portfolio. Ao could not gather Mystra's essence.
