D&D Online Group (I Don't Mean the MMO!) 4e
Hey everyone, I am actually looking for a group of people to pioneer playing D&D over nothing but a series of tubes. All the resources we need are online, player made campaigns, Wizard's dice roller, screen streaming software.... What I need is a DM with a computer decent enough to run Teamviewer 6 and that will prepare adventures in softwares such as GIMP.
Basically it would go like this:
Get the campaign you want (or make your own) open the map into GIMP from the .pdf and use it as a background. Add a few layers for enemies, chests, tables etc that the players will see as they enter rooms. Such as a situation from 3.5s tutorial box. The players enter the large room with a door on the other side of the hallway, a barrel in the corner, and an ogre in the center of the room. Basically the dm would have the doors on a layer, barrels and chests on a layer and the ogre on a layer, and as the players see or search the room they show up (show or hide layers options).
All the icons would be seperate objects, too. Makign it easy for the dm the move them around.
Now to play the devil's advocate:
Q: How will the players move their characters?
A: Well, either the dm can give players control of the mouse, or set up a grid system similar to battleship.
Q: What's to stop a player from cheating on his rolls?
A: Nothing, I suppose, that is the only issue, but if your a real D&D player, would you really be a **** and cheat?
Teamviewer or Livestream can be used to stream the board, Livestream would probably be the better idea since you can select a specific area of the desktop to show, so the players don't see the names of the layers (if you name them like a smart person ).
If anyone wants to play I currently need 3 players and a DM to join me... either send me a message or post in this thread and we can get it set up.
