Becoming vampire

Hi! I have played through BG2 two times now. But only as good kensai/mage and as Drizzt. I never really taken the Evil path, so wondered if it's possible to become a vampire if you side with the vampire guild during the guild war? It would be really cool to be a evil vampire mage. But don't know if it works or if it does if it would be worth it at all.

You cannot become one. You're backstabbed when you try the evil path, and are forced to proceed with the regular one. Pitty

Well, the game's not really suited for that sort of thing, as anyone who played with Valen can testify. Plus, vampires in BG are real monsters, with near-animal bloodthirst and a tendency to operate on lowest urges. Not the suave, overly-eroticized, Cursed With Awesome version ;)

It's been a while since I played it, but couldn't you become a vampire in Neverwinter Nights, including all the superhuman powers and sunlight allergy that comes with it?

I believe that you can only do so in the Hordes of the Underdark expansion, by choosing the shifter class and acquiring the form. As such, you can become a vampire, but it's not the "real thing". You don't really get the disadvantages either.

You are absolutely right, I mixed up a couple of games. You can be infected with vampirism in Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, not NWN. :)
