question about bracers and gauntlets

You know those bracers of defense ac 3-8. do they actually enhance barehand combat damage? I heard people saying that. but in the description it's not stated.
btw i'm using a monk. any suggestion about which bracer works best?

The bracers will only do what the description say they do. The Bracers of Defense will only make your AC better, they do not do anything else. There are a few Gauntlets that increase your THAC0 and damage - Gauntlets of Weapon Skills/Expertise/Extrodinary Expertise. These are added to any attacks you make, no matter if they were with a weapon or your bare hand. The Gauntlets of Crushing are good for Monks, because it gives +4 THAC0 and damage when you attack barehanded.

Since Shapeshifters (when shapeshifted into werewolf) attack barehanded, do the gaunlets of crushing give them the thaco/damage bonus?

An even better idea is to give to jaheira, and use greater elemental shapeshift and use greater whirlwind!!! the thalco bonus alone would make it killer!! whoo hoo!! Okay, next time I hit suaghin city, work fo the king of stinky fishes, dont bother pickpocketing the wave shaft, whack the rebel prnce wth abu dahzim, anyone notice just how incredibly effective abu dahzim is against fish dudes? better than cloud kill on umber hulks!!!
once I give rebel heart to fish king, whack him for more loot!

I wonder if it would work when I have jan shapeshift to mind flayer? eh???
increased thaco means an even better meelee attack!!!
