The Forum seems to be having LOTs of problems lately..

..disregarding some of the problem adds, there have been some significant problems.
Around last month the problem was a "suspect site".
Now the forum seems to "time-out".
Really, if GameBanshee wants to continue to exist (at least through member participation) then it REALLY NEEDS TO GET IT"S ACT TOGETHER!
(..this may seem a little harsh, but the recent "rash" of problems don't bode well for it's survival IMO.)

After the 'Suspect Site' issue, I didn't encounter any serious problems as far as I know.

I've tried different browsers and computers.. all have problems connecting to pages on Gamebanshee - cycling and often timing-out.
I typically have to hit the refresh button several times to get a completed page.

Only occasionally will the pages load quickly.
I don't have this problem with any other site I go to, so I don't think it's my ISP.

Please keep in mind that while Brother None and Steven help out with the site's content, a lot of that same content and 100% of the site and server administration duties fall solely on my shoulders. It's a lot for one guy to handle, and sometimes things don't go as smoothly as I like. I never could have expected that our previous server would be hacked, and unfortunately it ended up costing me hundreds of hours worth of lost time and well over $1000 out of pocket when I was forced to change servers and migrate all of the data over. Everything is fixed now, but trust me, it wasn't fun for me either.
Beyond that, there may be some site optimization that can be done, but I'm not able to reproduce any of the issues that you're reporting, and it doesn't sound like other members are able to either. If you have additional issues and can help me reproduce them, please feel free to post them here or drop me a PM.

Sorry to hear about the hacking..
I don't know what else to say about time-out problem.. I'm still having it.
I can't even login from Chrome, if I do this notice comes up:
"Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to
GameBanshee
Try reloading: www.*gamebanshee.*com/*index.*php"
It is good to hear that others aren't having the problem though.

Have you tried using a different browser to connect to the site? My understanding is that Chrome times out more quickly than other browsers. I haven't had any problems using Firefox.

This post is from firefox (..my main forum participation "point". I'm pretty much always logged-in to gamebanshee with this browser that is "always on".. via a virtual computer).
I've also tried the non-beta version of firefox on the same virtual computer and get the same results. (..Chrome is not on a virtual computer.)
Like wise I've tried physically different computers with firefox and chrome - same results.
I should probably also mention that NONE of the browsers I have use any significant add-reduction settings or plug-ins of any kind.

You said you tried even with different computer? Are those computers using the same internet connection? Or same provider? Do you experience slowing in any other website, even minor slowdowns?
In my experience GameBanshee belongs to that category which gets heavily affected if the connection is okay or worse. While other sites loads slowly GB may get timed out completely. When that happens I usually know there is problem with my general internet connection, and I need to reboot computer and/or modem. Usually after my connection returns to good the timing out of GB stops and I can use the site without problems.
So, my suggest is that you check your internet connection. It may very well be that poor connection causes the site to load too slowly to be timed out.

It doesn't seem to be timing-out on me now.
So Buck, if you fixed it - great! IF not, take credit for it anyway - you're great!
(..though moot now, all were using the same internet connection but I didn't have this problem with any other site - it was specific to gamebanshee.)
