BG 2 trouble under Win 7

Ok so I upgraded my rig to Win 7 32x recently since my 10 year old XP was getting really slow and thought hey would be nice to try out a new OS.

Ok said and done. Played several games on it so far and never had any serious problems.

IWD 2 runs perfect but BG 2 gives me a real headache.

Ok basically I got two probelms, one is that menue graphics are kinda wonky, I cannot read any entry on the fields it's like they got smeared out kinda.

The ingame graphics are perfect though but performance is pretty low. It ran very good on my old XP rig though.

I run my Win 7 32x on a AMD64 3000+ with 2 GB RAM and a Geforce 9600. I do use some mods but besides SCS II nothing which should down the performance that drastically and even SCS II never bothered my rig much so far.

Try disabling 3d acceleration.

That worked! Thank you.
Strange that this caused the bugs though and funny that 3D accelleration was actually a 3D slow down for my installation.

Say, is there not a widescreen mod out by the way?

Ok now the game runs smoothly but sometimes simple black blocks appear under sprites occasionally and always under subtitels on screen, wall of fog is sometimes black, sometimes translucent and always blocky/edgy, not smooth as I am used to it.

That anything to do with me disabling 3D acceleration?

By the way making Imeon a Swashbuckler 10/ Mage 1 from Refinement mod wasn't the greatest idea, don't have a thief now until I'll meet Yoshimo.

Anyone got an idea besides making the PC a thief? <.<

Edit: Nvm, found out changing colour depth to 16 bit and switching on Software Standard btl fixed the problem partly, at least the wall of fog works properly now, but spell effects are still showing black blocks like magic missles.

Still having the problem that no tief means that getting the portal key will hurt a lot. :(

Create a multiplayer thief and discard him when you get Yoshiro. Problem solved.

Found a more fun solution I hope: Charm a duergar and let him run over the traps. :D

Edit: Pity, charmed monsters don't spring traps. I'll try with summons now.

This is OT now but I don't want to make a new thread about that.

When I reinstalled Virueit gave me a warning:

cannot find block matching [virtue[/bg2/quest/R_50.BAF]

Anyone got a clue what that means?
