dragon age 2 map

OK, I started the game again, I am supposed to go to some mtn. I get this map but I can't figure out how to use it. I have clicked on everything on the map and all I get is nothing. Just the map. Same [problem with full map of Kirkwall. Is there a secret to this? I looked in the teeny tiny booklet that came with the game and it doesn't say anything useful.

Sundermount, you mean?
Changing the map to Day Map, Night Map, or Going outside Kirkwall is easy.
Go to any area transition (whichever is convienient) and look in the right lower corner. 3 buttons: One with a sun symbol (Activates Daytime map), one with a moon symbol (Activates Night-time map), and one I think with a mountain, which leaves Kirkwall for the Environs outside.
Is this what you are asking for?

Apart from DA 2's map having been separated into three components as pointed out by GoldDragon, it is not too dissimilar from the one employed in Origins.

are the map pins (icons for each location) showing up at all? perhaps you could provide a screenshot of how your map looks so we can tell you if it's unusual?
