Armor question

I'm currently in Lower Dorn's Deep and so far I've come across quite a bit of gear but I'm finding I'm having trouble figuring out who should wear what. At any rate is it better to wear non-magical armor along with cloaks and rings or should I wear concentrate on wearing magical armor by itself? For example I've got a the Baleful Mail armor on one of my characters. With it he gets that nice immunities to mind attacks. But I can get a better AC by just using plain plate mail along with some bonus armor rings, cloaks, etc....Just not sure what to do here before I start selling stuff. Thanks

I recommend that you go for the lower AC. Make good use of Mithran's Cloak and cloaks/rings of protection +2. You can easily emulate some magical armour's effect by using potions (for Example, Potions of Regenarations duplicates the effects of Mail of Life, Potion of Clarity shields your mind just like the Baleful mail does). As a packrat, I can give this advice: don't be stingy about your potions! You'll find more than you'll ever need, so no need to keep them "for that particular bossfight". Learn from my mistakes - use them often, you'll find more to replace them with. And if you feel too attached to some pieces of your gear, choose an empty stash in which to store them (I can't help it, I keep piling magic weapons Conlan's private stash as if I'm a daragon).

Thanks for the tips. Yea I've got all this gear so it's a bit overwhelming but I'll follow your advice. Thanks a bunch.

To me, the biggest benefit of the non-magical armor plus rings/amulets over the magical armor is that the rings and amulets also lower your saving throws. (In IWD 1 it might be just the amulets. but both do in BG1 & 2). So if I have a Paladin (who will normally have great saves) I give them the magical armor. Also any character who can wear armor but doesn't have the greatest strength I do likewise as most magical armor weighs far less than its non-magical counterpart. The non-magical armor and amulet/ring combo usually ends up on my ranger or straight fighter (if I have one). Sometimes my cleric if their strength is decent.
