Does parry work?

I understand that in theory parry is increasing the amount that you block enemy swords. But in practice does it work? I don't see that it increases the parry score on my character sheet whereas dexterity and agility and items do. If you can vouch for it can you explain exactly how the mechanic works?
Thanks any help is appreciated.

If I remember correctly Parry is essentially "armor class" or "dodge", whereas Armor is "Damage Reduction".
Parry *does* work, but it's never great. In practice level differences (between you and your opponent) means more to dodging an attack than Parry itself. Of course because it is an interactive game - actually *dodging* an opponent is preferable. (..High Agility and it's resulting "Speed" helps here.)
I don't remember, but I *think* that additional sources of Parry from modifiers do stack - even if they aren't shown. It's just that it never results in much of a difference. (..it becomes more of a "feel" like Critical Strikes.)

Oops I meant the parry skill, not sure if you got it. I figured the parry stat on the character sheet helps. But raising parry skill does not affect the character sheet. Is this skill doing anything? Ninja lord needs 10!

Yes, it does help - but the attribute derived version tends to help more.
My favorite "pole" wielder character (a Shaolei Master) had parry at about 18. 18 was noticeably better than 10.
