I have both of these running and am playing them for the 1st time. I must say that having to clear out Kvatch & the castle before I can find Martin and take him away is MUCH harder. I've gotten to a point where Savlian is yelling at me to get the gate open but there has been no prior instruction on how to do so. I checked the conversations using the construction kit and see that the old conversation about going to Berich has been deleted and can't find anything that replaces it. There's no quest entry telling me what I'm supposed to do. Is there a patch somewhere that I missed?

I believe you have to find a way into the gate house (Just look through out the area till you find the door, shouldn't be too hard if you use your map to find it since the place is pretty small, which will lead you, via underground passageway, to inside the gate where you can open it. I prefer to wait till I level my character up a bit before this quest for the sole reason that when you open the gate all the dremora will pour in and start attacking the guards so it makes for a more interesting battle.
