Well what a ride! Best game in ages. Finished with Vernon and no complaints- he is awesome. Easily hit the level cap by the beginning of act 3 with a little leveling via arm wrestling in Flotsam and early (pre medallion) wraith killing on Hensalt's side.

Anyway some advice to anyone starting this game

1) Arm wrestling is glitched and the easiest way to make money (see my old powergaming post)- do not waste your time with dice poker.
2) Vigor regeneration from the training tree seems to get a lot of hate but it is one of the best skills in that tree after parrying. The first rank is useless, but the second gives +25% vigor regen IN combat- couple this with Fortitude 1 and you've got +35% vigor regeneration right at the start!
3) Another great skill is whirl. Even one rank will let you more adequately disrupt mobs surrounding you- scattering them and making the kills easier.
4) Bombs, bombs, bombs- cheap, spammable and deadly
5) Don't underestimate aard. Aard 2 + sign intensity 2 is fantastic; and if used on a mob fills your adrenalin very quickly.
6) The nekkers (well the wild life in general) in Flotsam is your best chance to get mutagens (outside of the alchemy tree)- farm the sh*t out of them. Hold out for those madness mutagens(which gives more bonuses than the descriptor notes- and have no rank) and greater mutagens.
7) Invest your talent points to get as much mutagen slots as possible- I got 8 in all, 2 from training, 3 from sword and 3 from magic.
8) The sword tree is awesome- the damage and damage resist bonuses will get you through just about anything with no problems.
9) Mutagens cannot be changed once placed!!!

Anyway at the end of the game I invested in the following and was very happy:

Training: Vigor regneration (2), Parrying (2), Arrow redirection (1), Fortitude (1)

Swordmanship: Riposte (1), Guard (1), Tough guy (2), Hardy (1), Whirl (1), Violence (2), Finesse (2), Invincible (2), Combat Acumen (2) and Whirlwind (2)

Magic: Aard (2), Quen (1), Magic Intensification (2), Fatal Attraction (1), Enhanced Yrden (1), Energy Flow (1), Magical Sense (1), Magical Vigor (1), and Control Over the Power (2).

Instant kill % seemed a waste because the enemies died so fast.

When you have two adrenalin moves BOTH activate at the same time!

Oh sign intensity adds to Quen duration- so don't sweat not maxing it.

One last tip which may expose you to a few spoilers- look up the abilities (e.g. persuasion, strong back, axii sign, pyromaniac) and how to get them- you might end up kicking yourself other wise- and yes for the haggling ability you must use axii!

P.S.- This was a normal difficulty play through
