Chapter 2: Just got back to the swamp to deliver Vivaldi's reply to Yaevinn. Told he's now at the Rebel camp. Also see troops from The Order camped near the druid grove. Talked to both groups and took a neutral mind my own business approach.

Will this come back to haunt me latter in the game?

And am I missing any important info about any quest by not helping one or the other?

I have a saved game from when I first got back to the swamp.

Thanks :)

You have to make a choice between scoitael and order in ch2 but it won't mean that you are locked into that for the whole game.. you will get to choose again.

I forget but either you defend the rebels who are on the island from the order or else you help the order kill the rebels..

It is easy battle either way. Do siegried's tongue quest first because he won't talk to you if you side with the rebels.

I was afraid of that. I don't care for either side. I am a little fond of Zoltan Chivay and Siegfried. Choices, choices :(

Thanks

You don't actually have to make a choice for this little swamp skirmish in Chapter 2. You can tell one or both parties you need to think about it, then just finish the chapter without taking part the battle, and the neutral path will play out for it.

You will have to choose sides for a major event in Chapter 3, but in Chapter 4 you can return to neutrality for the remainder of the game.

OK, that's great. I've been trying to stay as neutral as long as I can. Still trying to figure these two factions out. Normally I try to take as "GOOD" a path as I can when I play. And so far, neither one impresses me yet.

Thanks :)

Sorry to have to tell you this Sonny, but if you want a good/ evil choice set then The Witcher is the wrong game. If that wasn't obvious with the swamp witch is chapter 1, it will be driven home in chapters 2 and 3. This is not to say that you shouldn't try to play neutral, it's worth doing it just because you can, but realise that the choices in the game are as morally grey as you're likely to see in any modern game.

Thanks. I have now kinda figured that out. Maybe "Good" was a bad word to use. After playing so many D&D type games and The Elder Scrolls games, I've gotten use to that mind set. Neutral would be a much better choice of words. And I even have some doubts rather that can be done in the way I'm used to being neutral in a game.

I love the game so far and now that I know I can not always take a middle of the road it will make me think more about the decisions I make.

Thanks very much for the reply.

Now in Chapter 3. Question.

If I choose to side with the Scoia'tael, when I get to the point where I have to take sides, will the humans other then The Order, still talk and deal with me?
Thinking about side quest that I may get from humans.

In terms of sidequests, no, it will not make a difference. A few characters will take note of your helping/stopping the bank robbery and be somewhat nicer or mean, but you won't fail or miss quests.

But, whichever side you choose here, you cannot side with the opposition at any point afterward. For example, if you help the Order, you will only be able to be on the Order's side (or be neutral) from here on out.
